Prices are actually pretty fair compared to many of today's insane prices.

Nesmith's departure from the tour was acrimonious. Jones was quoted by the Los Angeles Times as complaining that Nesmith "made a new album with us. He toured Great Britain with us. Then all of a sudden, he's not here. Later, I hear rumors he's writing a script for our next movie. Oh, really? That's bloody news to me. He's always been this aloof, inaccessible person... the fourth part of the jigsaw puzzle that never quite fit in."

I don't think Nesmith's reason for pulling out was personal, though. He started the tour as lead guitarist, struggled with the duties, and then switched to rhythm guitar and let Peter play lead. He didn't handle the press well and seemed uncomfortable with the crowds. The others, particularly Davy, were upset thinking it might negatively impact concert sales. Jones had a habit of mouthing off to the press about the others when there was a falling out. Tork did the same at times. It's unfortunate for fans. Despite his mouthing, I'm fairly certain the TV movie was in the can before the tour though it didn't air for over a year. The music videos for the JUSTUS album are part of the reunion movie. While the movie was Nesmith's major contribution, the album was dominated by Dolenz since much of the album was reworked from an unreleased solo album he wrote after a particularly unpleasant divorce.

True, the Monkees weren't as good as The Beatles, who were incredibly brilliant.
