I really thought Wales had a great chance before the game, but as it progressed and Portugal went 2-0 up, I knew it wasn't going to happen.

Wales done really well in Euro 2016, but Ramsey was really missed in this game.

My prediction was good for the winner.

It's probably the only game Portugal deserved to win in that tournament so far
and they did it in the right time so congratulations !

Iceland and Wales were really interesting to watch during this euro 2016. Let's wait and see what they will do for the next world cup.

Well, that was another evening of watching Portugal ruining any form of entertainment.
And unluckily not the last....

Portugals interpretation of the sport: prevent your opponent of playing football and whenever
possible try to pass to Ronaldo, who might have a chance of doing something great with
the ball.
This game he did for once (maybe twice, though the second goal was not really an assist,
but a failed attempt by Ronaldo that Nani finished nicely).
The Portugese team has a lot of talent, but so much is wasted since Ronaldo has less and
less effectivity in his body, but still is considered to be the only one who can score
a goal.

Wales on the other hand is completely the opposite. All the time they gave their best
effort to find a way to the Portugese goal. Bale never blames his team mates for a
wrong pass. He always compliments them with the effort. Though Wales lacked the talent
to decide a semi final in their advantage, they gave the best they had.

Of the few entertaining moments of last nights game, most came from Wales.

Let's face it. The sport is meant to entertain people. This tournament many teams
seem to forget that. It seems that being less entertaining brings a team further.
The world needs a new Johan Cruijff to find a way to fight the boring teams and bring
entertainment to the people.

Am I the only one who enjoyed the match yesterday? I rooted for Wales, but at the same time I thought it was good to see Ronaldo back at his very best.

you're not the only one DP !
I also drank 3 beers but I found the game pleasant and yesterday Portugal played a better football than previously.
Wales didn't play very well and it's normal they finally lost.

Portugal's second goal was not only lucky but offside also. I don't think it matters whether you reach the pass (in this case a bad shot) or not. You're standing offside all the same.

Nowadays, it is more "Wrestling" than football in penalty area in every match. Players holding each other, pushing, hitting etc.
Hopefully FIFA / UEFA will start punishing this kind of behavior with an indirect free kick or penalty.

I agree with you on that point, it's true that it's a real mess in the penalty area when there is a free kick or a corner.
But yesterday the Welsh defenser put his arm around Ronaldo's neck and pushed him down, it's impossible not to see it, like the nose in the middle of the face.

That's one of the reason why it would be a good thing to use video in this kind of situation.

Of course you can't use a video to referee. Except to decide whether the ball has passed the goal line or not. It wouldn't be doable.
If you are going to give a penalty for every situation in the box there would be 10-12 penalties a game. You have to use some kind of common sense.

Yeah, it was obvious. Everybody could see it. And a penalty.
Problem is, more they "allow" this kind of acting, more difficult it is on long term to grant penalties. It becomes somehow allowed / part of the game. And that it should not. Football is not Rugby or American Football!

imo, video could help determine the intention of a defenser.
What does he take care of ? the ball or the player ?

I also know that some players are great comedians and are not punished enough.

portugal are not a one man team like some media suggest, again ronaldo scores an easy goal but the media fail again to see the quality needed by the rest of the team to supply him the chances, but does ronaldo deliver quality for others to score, very rarely and even his pass for portugals 2nd goal was a failed attempt at shooting, but he gets all the credit while the rest of the team dont despite them being the instigators of all the portugal chances.

wales done well, just a pity they fell a bit short on the night.

ps, why do the media compare platinis 9 euro goals with ronaldos now 9 euro goals. platini earned his in 1 euro, 5 games and few chances created for him, while ronaldo earned his in 4 euros, umpteen games and a few dozen chances created for him, yet he missed a very high percentage of them. also back in the day of platini, 8 teams qualified for the euros, not 16, now 24 in ronaldos era, imagine how many tournament goals the likes of gerd muller, platini, rossi ets could have scored if todays circumstances had prevailed back in the 70,s and 80,s.

comparisens of this nature are irrelevant.

ronaldo is the most overrated player ever and the media have a pro ronaldo agenda that is becoming more sickening listening to.

hope france or germany wipe the smile off his face in the final.

hes not the only player who can header a ball stoneage, you dont have to be a great player to score a headed goal, just get on the end of a quality cross does that trick. he rarely creates chances for his teammates to score, has struggled through his career to pass the ball well,he has made a career habit out of sloppy passing, and rarely gets down the wing to beat his opponent and deliver a quality cross, how many players score headed goals from a ronaldo cross, not many.

he can control a ball and he can shoot, but statistically he has a low conversion rate and the way he plays is down to who he has as teammates who do so much for him.he is a superb athlete though, cant deny that.

without the expertise from his teammates he would be missing in games and often has been for real v barca or portugal in tournaments.

as a person, i find him a loathsome individual, maybe its cos i prefer team players, and why i dig german football more, hopefully we get a quality game tonight

Definitely cheering for Portugal, only 10 million plus persons compared to a number that are 4 times larger or more population wise.

Manchester United won the Champions League with Ronaldo, Real has won 2 with him.

It speaks volumes.

I think people don't like him at times for the same reason as they disliked Beckham, so much publicity, being a bit of a model. Things like that.

This isn't a South American competition.

With the Brazilian Ronaldo, might as well talk about his teammates as well. Ronaldinho was one. Even Romario was one if memory serves me correctly.
