Wow. Crazy. This is really a shock to me. Bowie was a surprise, but he's older, had been sick..
But this....
Damn, 57.
He was such an original. No words to say really..
The sad thing to me is that because he was so off the public radar for so long, younger people won't understand the all the fuss over his passing..
Frustrating to no end..

Terrible news. I listened a lot to his music especially in the 90's and was very fond of Cream, Sexy MF etc. Prince was a highly skilled guitar player as well. This is so sad.

Shocked. He lived here for many years after he was married. He played a couple concerts here last month on short notice, I decided not to go, but had seen him in London in 2007 when he did a series of gigs at the O2. Very saddened. Condolences to his loved ones.

Prince was brilliant. I was lucky to have seen him in concert twice.
Great performer. Great guitarist. Bandleader. Showman. Songwriter. Piano player. Producer.

There was a special report/programming break-in on CBS. On the West Coast, that meant interrupting the showcase bid reveal on The Price is Right. That's making the news, and at least it was good to see him get that kind of respect. So sorry this happened. He was just here in the Bay Area for solo shows in Oakland. It is a bad year. RIP.

One of the greatest musicians of all time. RIP Prince.

And possibly the greatest guitar solo of all time.

this is so sad to me because he was so awesome as a super talent including his beyond great guitar skills and such great songs .A big regret of mine to have never seen him perform live ,i missed a chance to see him tour in support of the mega hit album 1999 ,and then again in 1997 we had orchestra pit tickets to see him when he suddenly cancelled because he wanted to continue working in the studio and the show was never rescheduled .Think about all of that talent gone .R.I.P your PURPLE MAJESTY PRINCE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can"t believe he has gone. He was such a big part of my teenage years. Purple Rain and especially Darling nikki represented naughtiness and rebellion as my parents could not understand the lyrics. Saw him in Wembley in the early 90s, he was such a talented and original musician. RIP Princesad smiley

Thanks for posting that video Silver Dagger. I had just gone to youtube to watch that again and was about to post it myself. Amazing talent the world lost today.

Peace,

Horribly shocking news. RIP Prince, a true one-off. More than enough already in 2016 and it's only April.

I was really into his music for awhile. Like Merle, he did his own thing. They'll both be part of a helluva jam band on the other side. R.I.P.

I remember laughing at the stories of Prince opening for the Stones in LA 1981, where many crazed Stones fans were less than pleased with his persona and performance. A few years later, many like me were buying his albums.

The Artist Formerly Known as ... err ... Alive.

HBK is sad.

I read his plane made a unexpected stop at a Illinois airport a few days ago in
order to take Prince to a hospital for medical care. I had assumed he was still there but he must have been released. He had many fans and was certainly an original. This is very sad news. I belive he opened a show for the stones in 81. Rest in peace.

So sad...
Saw him 4 times on stage and every show was a real feast.
Arras 2009 (featuring Larry Graham as special guest) will remain in my mind forever.

I've seen Prince on the Sign Of The Times Tour in a very good concert show in 1987. Sheila E. was on drums. He was truly one of the biggest talents in music.

RIP Prince
