My crowd claustrophobia is kicking in at the prospect. So is this like a big hot desert with no way out?

And this is a 'new' Coachella correct? They're makin' one now for the old folks?

Alright, clearly I know nothing, so went to 'Coachella' website.
Hey man check this out:
SAFARI TENT (2 person) $7000
Nestled in an exclusive, secluded area away from all other on-site camping, Safari includes off-site private check-in, fully furnished Shikar style tents with air conditioning, free adjacent private parking lot, access to festival “guest” viewing areas, golf cart transportation to festival stages, breakfast/late night sets, restrooms & showers, on-site concierge that will help transport luggage from vehicle to tent, dedicated security, outdoor chairs, shade tents, outdoor lighting, games and more. Choose 1 or 2 queen beds or as a lounge with ample seating. Price INCLUDES 2 *Safari Guest Passes. Each purchaser has the option to add up to 2 additional guests to their tent for $1,750 per guest. *These passes grant you access to the VIP areas, shuttles to/from your tent into the venue and the most exclusive access available to attendees. Safari tents are sold exclusively through Valley Music Travel. No payment plan available for Safari Tents.

LOL. What's even funnier is if I had an extra $7k, I'd buy this package!
ETA: gotta say tho, I'd feel like fool being driven in a golf cart next to walking folks, as I am fit and able. I'd skip that. But my husband like to be carted, ha ha ha. Oh well, dreaming.

And The Who and Roger Waters if I read correctly...

Roger Waters has been rumored at Coachella for quite awhile now, so perhaps this all makes perfect sense.

And it sounds like Neil Young is near-confirmed:

Artist representatives contacted by The Times indicated that plans are nearing completion.

“It’s so special in so many ways,” said Young’s longtime manager, Elliot Roberts,
“because you won’t get a chance to see a bill like this, perhaps ever again. It’s a show I look forward to more than any show in a long time.”

The Who and Waters to close on the last day?
Seems unlikely...Macca's ego wouldn't stand for that, surely.

Rog played Coachella in 2008.

Oct. 9 was the birthday of both John Lennon and John Entwistle - maybe Macca and the Who should play Sunday.

Do you think Dylan will play 'Tangled Up In Blue'?
I might sweat in a tent closed in/trapped by millions for that- with the RS same day.
Concert of the century, sounds like.

Next you're gonna tell me Zepplin needs some quick cash, so they're gonna 'copter in for the weekend, too.
Overwhelming.

Yes about Roger in 2008, but there's been recent talk of him playing there again on a Pink Floyd site for awhile now.
Looks like it might really happen - again.

Stones, Paul, Dylan, The Who, Neil Young, Roger Waters - sounds too good to be true, but if it happens I predict....

The Redlands, CA area is rather sun-baked and arid.

From the story: Billboard adds that, like Coachella, a second weekend of the mega concert is also being discussed.

Three days in a tent? Does anyone still do that? Maybe if it was on a cruise ship ....

Actually, T.M Christian told me that Greil Marcus told him that the Masked Marauders were FINALLY going to play I Can't Get No Nookie and Cow Pie to close out both weekends of Coachella!

Ok.

Really?

Indio is about 60 miles southeast of that, so it's even more sun-baked and arid...it's a damn desert!

Stay at a local hotel in 'beautiful' downtown Indio, and take a cab back and forth. thumbs up

They aren't opening, the article says Dylan opens on Friday and then they close on Friday.

I feel like I would much rather see the Stones at their own, stand alone show.
Living in Southern California I hope I won't have to go too far to do so should they tour this year.Cochilla presumably would negate an LA area show?

Similarly,I would love to see McCartney again, just not in that horrible sea of ****s in the desert.
Thankfully,I saw a wonderful Neil Young show in a small venue last year.Fantastic.
Dylan again at same small place soon.
For what I am imagining this will cost,I would prefer to see each of these acts in smaller settings(i know half play stadiums) as single-focus acts.I feel that festivals, while great fun, take away from the music because it is a different 'gestalt'

Sincerely,
Grumpy Old Man

I'm late to the discussion here. Don't know if this has been posted yet... But this article says the Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, Neil Young and The Who are all "booked" for the Coachella festival.... I love Golden Voice tea, personally. It's a great tea if you have a scratchy throat.

Argh! Not what I was hoping for as a Stones concert. I can't imagine it will be 2 hours long. Coachella in October will be very very hot and windy. I think my Stones friend and I will hold out for a better venue to follow hopefully. Am hoping the SF, Seattle, Las Vegas, NY rumors pan out.
