Why don't they play MIDNIGHT RAMBLER!?
Posted by: Georges ()

They should play MIDNIGHT RAMBLER at every gig. Every time they play MIDNIGHT RAMBLER, it is the highlight of the show.
Is there anybody who likes better Tumbling dice or YCAGWYW than MIDNIGHT RAMBLER?

They´ve outgrown it, if you ask me.

for sure it will played this tour - maybe even tomorrow nite, possibly in place of OOC. - if not then probably at the arenas. it was rehearsed extensively, according to reports I've seen.

I'm glad to hear that it was rehearsed extensively.

I also hope for MR in Europe.
Especially at some point when Ron & Keith has been staying up for some five-six days and nights...
(and Jagger have added much sugar to his morning cereals...)

What do you mean exactly, baboon?

Some parts of the old catalog just dont seem to fit in anymore.
Mostly its the 60´s stuff... And, well, Rambler is from the 60´s
even if its late. I have never heard a good version of DDDD(H) either,
since 1975 or so... Therefore I´m curious about how it sounded yesterday.

Speaking of lyrics and "grown" - and then thinkin of ABB:s low-water marks,
it may sound silly to speak of outgrown.

Maybe I was just too damn fast on my keyboards. Honestly I cant give a
razor blade-sharp explanation of the reasoning. Just a feelin.

MR in the rain at Don Valley, tough and rockin'. What a great version.

Out Of Control is the new Midnight Rambler

Good question though! I will always go away from a Stones gig happy when I've heard MR. Even if the rest is warhorses, this song live is worth the money alone - everything else is the icing on the cake.

You can't beat the thrill of the fast bit.

They havent played it well after Mick Taylor left and they know that. Its just a part of the Vegasact since 1989.

Well you heard about the Boston...
It's not one of those
Well, talkin' 'bout the midnight...sh...
The one that closed the bedroom door
I'm called the hit-and-run raper in anger
The knife-sharpened tippie-toe...
Or just the shoot 'em dead, brainbell jangler
You know, the one you never seen before

I don't agree with that. I think it sounded GREAT on the Licks Tour.

I second that, Reptile.
Also a highlight in 99, when played on the b-stage.

It was mesmerizing on the licks tour... i remember we were passing the binoculars and Keith and Ronnie were just Grinding the &^%$$ out of MR and I said "... there they are, the guitarists of the Rolling Stones..."

The song just epitomized them as a guitar duo for some reason.

Because American Motors is out of business? Seriously, I want that one too on each show but they want variety.

Isn't it obvious why Midnight Rambler, Stray Cat Blues and Star Star have been left off the program? It's a PG tour.

Brown Sugar lost it's edge a while ago, when the chorus was used for a chocolate beer commercial or whatever that sludge was. Sympathy is strictly PG. It seems the band has become Respectable.

I don't mind their ditching MR and Gimme Shelter to play some new songs, but the setlist does seem uncharacteristically tame. Maybe they'll start doing Stupid Girl or Short & Curlies in Moncton.

what about brown sugar, JJ flash and tumbling dice. MR is the sound of the stones!

Are you for real? That was one of the best songs from the Licks tour. In Hartford and Boston it was amazing.

I fully agree, Hound Dog. An amazing first encore in Hartford!
