I like it a lot, with the exception of the edit in Rocks Off

Same with the merged solos in HTW.

Cons:

The concept with one Greatest Hits cd and one deep cuts cd is annoying and useless.

It's the same recordings we already heard on Four Flicks.

Pros:

It's better mixed than Four Flicks.

But essentially this is just a lame incomplete soundtrack cd for Four Flicks with edits on some songs.

CD 2 is a killer!
On CD 1 I only like SFM and PIB.
After all the years i almost learned to live with the edits (although the one in Rocks Off is so ridiculous).

I think it's the other way around.

I love the 2nd disc .

Played it only yesterday whilst I was painting my walls & ceiling.

During my 'no live RS shows' self imposed exile, I did make sure to be at
Best Buy store on the morning of exclusive release of the
'Four Flicks' DVD release Nov. 2003.
I thought this 4 DVD set was the best thing I'd ever seen/ owned.
It sealed again for me #1 forever RS's,
my favorite tracks were 'Beast' 'Worried'
'Monkey Man' (finally, Yea!)
Very special to me, 'Live Licks'
A '10' release.

I love it, although it´s just some sort of incomplete 4-Flicks-soundtrack. It´s good to have it, now you can play it everywhere, not so easy with the 4-Flicks-package.

To my ears it sounds better than 4-Flicks, but who knows, I can only listen to DVDs in stereo. On CD the guitars seem to be more prominent and the sound is less muffled. The tracklist is superb and I dont care much for the edits, in fact never noticed any.

A nice compilation of live recordings of their greatest songs with the addition of many lesser heard live-gems. The price was also very reasonable, less than a new CD by any other artist as far as I remember, who could ask for more.

Is the japanese bonus track also on 4-Flicks or from a different source?

The Japanese bonus track, "If You Can't Rock Me", was recorded at Madison Square Garden on 18 January, 2003 and is on "Four Flicks"

Loved it from the start but I remember that it came too late imho - almost a year after Four Flicks. Would have been better released simultaneously.

Kinda annoying that it wasn't released on vinyl and that the Americans put a bra on the girl's boobs.

Does the best live version of 'Street Fighting Man' not deserve multiple listens?

Yes, it does. However, that version is to be found on Stripped smoking smiley

Funny, was listening yesterday to Stripped SFM,
and I can't remember how it is on Licks now,
nor *gasp* can I remember CYHMK on Licks! CYHMK is Licks album only, no iTunes.
CYHMK alternative old first version we got last year Sticky release (Mick Taylor)
stays in my head for days after a listen (could be the volume, ha)
'If You Can't Rock Me'
that ones tough to measure up after 70's live version,
can't get this Licks version off iTunes either :-/
(I use iTunes for outside Stones listening)

Regular cover / topless european cover / censored chinese cover

Only 1 track censored in China : Paint It Black
Weird to see that Brown Sugar, Honky Tonk Women and Beast Of Burden had been censored on the chinese Forty Licks, but not on Live Licks

Nothing jaw-dropping like Ya Yas or Brussells, but still a very good live album. I like the fact that it sounds much more raw than FP or NS.

The open G guitar in the left channel on CYHMK is a mystery, though. Who played it? Certainly not Keith or Ronnie..

*oh dear, say no more.
I'll say, Ron Wood sober CYHMK
2015-2016 quite tight and better than Licks
but then again,
it's all good :-)

How come you're certain it's not Ronnie?
The version on Live Licks is a different one than on Four Flicks isn't it?
Los Angeles, not MSG.

Two reasons: He never played it in open G and it doesn't sound remotely like his rhythm playing. Actually three reasons: On the Wiltern bootleg-version I heard years ago, Ronnie played in standard tuning smiling smiley
