The 45 was a 33, though.

Loved it, even though it was bleeding expensive here in Norway smiling smiley
Really? One of the worst sounding official releases I ever heard, bought a ton of stuff on RSD and this was by far the worst.

In fact everything I've heard from the New Barbarians, tons of boots and the actual show I attended were less than good. I get the looseness etc, but the vocals are so horribly bad, it makes Kermit the Frog sound like Ella Fitzgerald.

Try listening to this after Emmy Lou Harris' Wrecking Ball RSD 3 lp set!

I knew the sound would be poor - all Barbarian-releases sound weird.

This time, though, they managed to mix the levels of the poor sounds. That helped, imo. Mac up in the mix on Am I Grooving You was a joy to listen to. The panning is good, too, for a NB show, that is smiling smiley

I don't think Woody is singing bad on this one. Keith, however...

If anyone's interested, I was able to just buy a copy of the RSD release on Ameoba's site for $18 free shipping:

Well I don't think it is a bad release. The version of Seven Days is crazy. Almost like punk. Africa sounds fantastic! And I'm Grooving You is darn good too! Like an official bootleg release.

So has anyone gotten a red vinyl one?

MSG I believe.
Did they really list Hello Africa as just Africa? Did they at least credit the songwriter (Eddie Grant)?
I love that thing and am delighted it's gotten an official release, but they ought to get the title right.

I thought it was Chicago, but I'm still not sure whether the two cuts are from the same show. Sounds like they are, though, as the end of Am I Grooving You is cut shamelessly and picks up again after you turn the disc.

Africa is simply listed as Africa on the sleeve. the labels on the record itself have only artwork with no credit or information listed.

Hm. Seems like a strange way to do things.

I think this would have been a better selection for the rehearsal cut..

this is starting to sound(no pun intended) like a fake RSD/boot issue...no info/writing on the labels ??

I don't think its fake. I think it was hype like someone posted above about the supposed special guests. I think they were all just printed on regular vinyl. The back picture is very low quality and very much like a boot. I think they want this to look like a boot. Cool.

Who is "they", though? Who released it, and what makes it not a boot?

The distribution deal.

I wouldn't be surprised if Wooden Records was involved.

It doesn't even say who released it?? Weird
I hope someone bought one for Ronnie

The etching on the vinyl says: «Vinyl Record Guru FTP 0017 - (A and B on the respective sides).

+ this: 140445F1 / A

Dunno if that helps, but that's all there is...

On another RSD front, Bill Wyman's "Monkey Grip" LP picture disc is severely clogging up the shelves in any London (UK) record store I have visited since Tuesday. Nobody wants it; poor Bill.. or whoever funded this RSD release.

Cheers,
SonicD

Apparently, I'm one of the very few who wanted the New Barbarian EP here in Oslo, if that may give Bill some comfort.. smiling smiley

On The official Record Store Day list the label is "MRI". They also say it's on red vinyl for what its worth.

Yep, that's correct. MRI is under Megaforce Records (Anthrax, Johnny Winther and others..).

There is nothing on their website about the NB release, though..

Does everyone's copy actually have Seven Days as the first track and Africa just ending abruptly on the b side? Also a black vinyl here.

Actually, upon a second listen, my track listing is A1) Seven Days A2) Africa cool smiley Am I Grooving. The jacket says 1) Am I Grooving 2) Seven Days 3) Africa

In the Barbarians' set list Am I Grooving You always segued into Seven Days - did they really separate them? eye popping smiley
Some odd choices were made on this release.

Wait - didn't someone above say one number is cut off in the middle on side 1 and continues on side 2?
I'm confused.

Yeah, I wonder if there just wasn't enough room on one side to fit both grooving and seven days.
