Anybody got the New Barbarians singel today?
I didn't find it here in The Netherlands.
How much was it? I see it on Ebay for ca 40 euro (with p&p costs and tax it will cost me ca 70 euro!!!), that sounds way too much!

I was at the gig. Yes it was a lot of fun; really because of who it was. It was all about Keith and Ronnie, and then the notion that Stanley Clarke was along. I lived in NYC in those years, and the previous summer was all about Stones, Miss You, Some Girls, SNL, Keith's trial. They were so hot. Trash Vaudeville had as much Stones stuff, as red vinyl.
But, I don't know if it was the press, or if it had been Ronnie who had started this whole buzz about Jagger, Dylan, Rod, Neil Young...all these big guys might show up. And that was a major distraction. Mind you - the gig needed all the hype it could get. They were not well rehearsed, and honestly didn't really try to hide the fact. Hilight was S Clarke's bass solo on "Groovin".
The one thing that always sticks out in my memory was that music stand with the lyrics and the three headed microphone stand.

But how much was it? What is the normal price for a release like this? That's what I want to know.

the store I bought my copy at was selling it for $15.99
the first store I went to had it on their list for $18.99 but sold out of the few copies they had.
same with the Talking Heads/Echosmith split 7", listed at one shop for $18.99 but found it elsewhere for $11.99

Ok, thank you for clearing that up.
I just found one on ebay for $15,49 (ca 14 euro). All the others are asking way too much!

I was there, too. Last row of section 444, as far from the stage as it was possible to be and still be in the building. It looked great. It sounded great. I was nineteen, very drunk, and very happy.

I'm still on the lookout for one. I braved the crowd at my local record store yesterday (picture 20 kids pushing in line to get the Mumford & Sons 45) and the owner was like "Oh sorry, I didn't order a copy. I didn't think anybody would possibly want it."

I got one here in the US. It was $13.99. But it isn't red vinyl?? What's up with that?

I bought one from eBay for $19.98 which included shipping. Pricing was as high as
$50 for some sellers - so it pays to be patient. My local store said he ordered
8 but received four. Maybe the red vinal is the more expensive?

Well this does sound like the New Barbarians spirit! As I remember the concerts
were teased with a long list of possible guest stars and none showed up. Actually
in Chicago we had Sugar Blue(as I remember anyway) - but he was local. I think there was a riot with fires set etc. in Milwaukee. Maybe the disc only comes with a red vinal STICKER.

The guest in Chicago was Junior Wells.
I'm not sure there were any fires at the Milwaukee show but there was indeed a sort of riot.
I've heard a bootleg from the Milwaukee show and I bet the crowd just wanted more Barbarians - they played great!

Yes thanks, my bad, it was Junior Wells - long time ago. The show was great and I was fine with just the Barbarians. I do remember the footage from Milwaukee, unless I'm Confusing it with somthing else, the chairs were piled up in the center of the venue and set on fire. If this was indeed the case than the chairs must have been wooden. I remember it made national news.

Really? One of the worst sounding official releases I ever heard, bought a ton of stuff on RSD and this was by far the worst.

In fact everything I've heard from the New Barbarians, tons of boots and the actual show I attended were less than good. I get the looseness etc, but the vocals are so horribly bad, it makes Kermit the Frog sound like Ella Fitzgerald.

Try listening to this after Emmy Lou Harris' Wrecking Ball RSD 3 lp set!
