Another new song from Peter Wolf
Peace Of Mind!

Thanks for sharing. Hadn't heard that one yet. As I listened, I thought "I'd like to hear Peter sing with Keith." Then I realized that I think I'd enjoy him sitting in w/ the Stones. By the end of the tune, I was hearing shades of WWOOF. I'm looking forward to this album.

Peace,
Mr DJA

A beautiful laid back album with some good classic Peter Wolf-tunes.

The live renditions of LS and WT are nice, but disturbs the album flow a bit for me, as I feared on beforehand.

Peter Wolf always delivers quality when he can call the shots. Love it thumbs up

DP I agree about the live cuts breaking up the track list flow. Why didn't he simply add 5-6 live tracks in a row after the studio numbers? It would have made much more sense. Plus this album wasn't exactly overloaded with tracks anyway. Saying all that I still like the album, and look forward to the May gig here in Chicago at the Park West. Wolf is a consummate pro.

Peter was in a ROCKING good mood last night in Ann Arbor.
Phenomenal show! Probably the best solo show I've seen him do.
He seemed much more relaxed this time and of course he can tell a story like no other.

Before 'Nothing But The Wheel', he said he'd just received a telegram from Mick and relayed the message to the crowd in a British accent:
"Dear Peter, sorry I couldn't make it to Ann Arbor to be with you tonight but I'm in the islands with the girls that are rubbing Oil of Olay on my tooshie."
Or something like that!
spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

He is probably the only guy in Rock N' Roll that can pull off such a genuine presentation in a small venue like The Ark.

If he's coming your way, go see him. I know that he's finally hitting the west coast this summer but only as an opener for Steve Miller. JUST GO!

Duke Levine was ON FIRE! Man, he can make that Telecaster SING.

It was a no phones/no cameras show so here's all I've got:

The Set List-

My Seat-

Extra songs on the Set List that didn't get played-

Great, Kurt! What a lovely setlist, too.

It was the Tragedy off his latest album he played, right? Love that tune thumbs up

Hey DP,

Tragedy was the Shelby Lynne duet-version.
Also his rendition of Homework last night just COOKED!
The band really ROCKED the J. Geils stuff almost true to form,
Back to the Future-type FULL HOUSE reminiscent.

Wow.

Thanks to Pete & Geils, Homework has become one of my all time favorite songs. Doesn't matter if it's Geils studio or live or Pete's more recent reworking of it. Even the original Otis Rush version has moved up my list though I do prefer Pete's vocals.

Peace,
Mr DJA

Was he with the same band he had last year at the Arc? Mostly countryish and bluegrass folk. Acoustics, no drums? Loved the show last year, I was first row and he put his hand on my shoulder and SANG TO ME! Was pretty cool, but got to a point to where I was asking myself, "do I look into his eyes? How long is he going to be here singing to ME!?" It was cool though.

Hey whitem8,

Same band but different attitude.

The Midnight Travelers decided to mostly ROCK last night.
Duke was plugged in and LOUD on the Telecaster.
Kevin Barry on the Strat and lap steel.
Drums on most all of the selections by Tom and great bass lines by Marty.

Really the only bluegrass number this time was a medley of 'When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again' segueway into Love Stinks.

Nice comments Kurt re: the Ann Arbor gig. Thanks. I can echo your reporting by saying the Park West show yesterday was some kind of a good rocking night for Pete and the Midnight Travelers. God, what a great band they are! Sound was perfect to my ears at the Park West. The Levine/ Barry guitar duo mixed Levine on a Tele and Barry on a Strat. Excellent contrast. Both those guys are super slick players. Barry was superb on a lap steel too. Rhythm section just drives it. Wolf remains a world class front man and is always a heart warming treat to see. Setlist well mixed with Wolf solo work and Geils band numbers.

Thankfully they did this Chicago gig at the Park West and NOT at City Winery. Apart from a gig I saw Wolf and the band play at S.P.A.C.E in Evanston a few years ago the show last night was the most rocking I have heard the Midnight Travelers play in a long long time. Wolf played Fitzgeralds in Berwyn many years ago and that one remains my favorite show to date along with last night.

Go see this band if you can on this tour. You won't be disappointed.
