Listen to Ronnie Spector's I'd much rather be with the boys

In 1964, Keith Richards and Andrew Oldham penned a number called “I’d Much Rather Be With the Girls,” a song the Rolling Stones recorded with the title “I’d Much Rather Be With the Boys” in 1965, which appeared on the 1975 compilation record “Metamorphosis.” Richards wrote it with Ronnie Spector in mind and now decades later, she’s resurrected it for her new album “English Heart,” her first collection of new recordings in 10 year.

Of course, Spector and Richards have a history that extends long past those early days. Richards wrote about their romantic encounters in his autobiography “Life,” contributed to her last album, 2006?s “Last of the Rock Stars,” and inducted the Ronettes into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. In 2010, shortly after “Life” was published, Spector told the San Francisco Chronicle “I should have married Keith. Our kids would have had great hair.”

“English Heart” is out April 8 on 429 Records. Listen to “I’d Much Rather Be With the Girls” below:

That's nice - has a proper 60s girl-group feel to it (as I suppose it should) with the spoken bits. Looks like English Heart might be one to watch out for.

"Ronnie Spector spoke with NPR's Scott Simon about her days traveling with The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and how her performance of "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" on English Heart grew from memories of her troubled marriage to Phil Spector and finding her way back to performance in its aftermath. Hear more of their conversation at the audio link."

I was going to see the Ronnie Spector concert in the Paradiso in May, but unfortunately the show is cancelled.
