I noticed Ron's Pedal steel on stage is some of the photos. Looks like the European leg. What song/s did he use that on for this tour?

Amazing. More photos..haha..
I wonder if it were possible to create a type pf composite on the 81/82 tour, much like Harold Colson did for the 72 tour. Based on outfits, bolstered by pics - one charts all the shows.
I also wondered that about 75/76.

One of my main purposes for starting this thread was to identify the clothes/wardrobe for each concert, much like Harold. I am imagining a photo chart of each member of the band in the clothes they work at each show and putting the photos in order by date as you are suggesting.

The tour(s) I have most trouble identifying is 1973.

Which show did you notice the pedal steel?

The show set lists usually ran like this:

"Under My Thumb"
"When the Whip Comes Down"
"Let's Spend the Night Together"
"Shattered"
"Neighbours"
"Black Limousine"
"Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)"
"Twenty Flight Rock"
"Going to a Go-Go"
"Chantilly Lace"
"Let Me Go"
"Time Is on My Side"
"Beast of Burden"
"Let It Bleed"
"You Can't Always Get What You Want"
"Little T&A"
"Tumbling Dice"
"She's So Cold"
"Hang Fire"
"Miss You"
"Honky Tonk Women"
"Brown Sugar"
"Start Me Up"
"Jumpin' Jack Flash"
"(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"

By July 1982 "Chantilly Lace" and "Let It Bleed" were dropped and past hit ballad "Angie" soon took their place.

Yes 73 is hard because Jagger was always in that powder blue. Are you familiar with Jean Marie's work? His self made printings on the 70's tours?
But if there is anyone who can do 81 it is you. I always thought 82 would be harder, but just in this thread alone I have seen so many pics from shows I had never seen documented. It's not just thew pics, but the info from which show a shot is.
I do think that 75/76 catalog would be more fun to put together, just because they looked even wilder.

The 1982 images (photos) are harder for me but as time goes by I get more information and find more photos. When this project has every show pictured, then I can assemble the photos in order to have a complete understanding of which images were taken at which performance.

Maybe it's just the way I think but 1981-1982 seemed much like the same tour. 1975 & 1976 seem different in clothes, set list etc...

I do collect Rolling Stones photos and have come across much of Jean Marie PĂ©rier's work. I don't remember seeing of images of the Rolling Stones past 1971. She seemed to have a nice relationship with Mick.

In 1981, Mick always has something different for each show; knee pads, belt, shirt color. I wonder if he did that purposely?

es I think you r right Exile about 75 and 76 being their own animal. The clothes changed. But mainly in 76 they added all the Black & Blue tracks; made a huge difference.
The Jean Marie I was referring to is someone from the board here. JM put out these wonderful collection of newspaper articles and b#w shots; general info on all the various 70's tours. This is someone different from JM Perier, I think.
But they are great collector items; especially for info on various tour stops.

On page 4 there's a picture of the pedal steel. It looks like Buffalo. Probably they thought about using it for something, but later abandoned.

Sorry-on this page is a picture of the Pedal Steel on stage. Ronnie is wearing the red frayed jacket. It's a Ronne Smith photograph.

Looks to be from Buffalo and the pedal steel is next to the Grand Piano.

I didn't think they used the pedal steel in 81 or 82.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the 1981-82 tours and I've never heard of Woody playing pedal steel on anything.

I was one of those 16 year old's that slept out to see in 81 - SF / Candlestick Park.

Went on saturday night for the following sunday show.

Pulled up oni the parking lot and could hear Little T & A.

What a day for my first stones gig.

Damn - that does look like a pedal steel there. Maybe they were planning to do a song they then changed their minds about? I'm sure the pedal steel was never played on the 1981 Tour. They really did nothing country flavored that year.

Couldn't find a setlist for Buffalo, but most shows in 1981 were pretty close to this one from Philly. Tops was dropped after this show and no country tunes were done...
