Fans of the Rolling Stones camped out at the Orpheum Theater in Boston in 1981 for a chance to get a ticket for a planned Rolling Stones show that didn't happen.

TURIN

Turin, Sunday 11 July 1982

A magical day, to remember !!!
by SILVIO CANINI

I have always been a lover of rock, I started taking pictures a year before, and there was no mention
of going to a concert without a camera.

In those days it was absolutely forbidden to photograph, only the few lucky ones who were accredited
had the chance to go under the stage, but this never caused me problems, I was photographing the same.

Living in Bellaria, a seaside resort, Sunday in the summer does not exist, it is like any day of the week,
you work!

But in Turin there are the Rolling Stones, and then there is also the World Cup final, so it's a national holiday,
f@$K the job!

Sting, Max Reali, Steve, Monica and myself arrived at the Turin stadium around six, we were the first.

I'm on the left.

The concert began at three in the afternoon, an unusual time for a concert, but afterwards there was Italy Germany,
and the organizers had moved the concert time to give everyone the chance to see the final.

At the opening of the gates, my usual concern was to get the camera in, but this time I had a good job, I took a
whole Tuscan bread, I took off all the crumb, I wrapped the body of my Nikon FM2 with the transparent kitchen film,
then I put some mortadella on the sides of the paninone, and another round of film to finish the work.

Same thing with the 300mm, with this I simulated a salami, the same treatment to protect the optics, then greasy yellow paper, and the final string as on salami, a masterpiece, I would have eaten it .....

Of course it went well, they opened my backpack, they saw that there was only food, and as soon as I entered the stadium,
I shook hands by myself smiling smiley

The wait was grueling, they had put a plastic sheet to protect the lawn, not thinking that with 40 degrees and all
the people there, sitting on the plastic was not the best, so after a few hours we practically rolled them all up
for some fresh air on the grass, result, after the concert, field destroyed.

The concert began very punctual, the stadium exploded, and it was three hours of absolute lust !!!

Those few photos you see, are scans made at home by negative, a small summary of what was one of the most beautiful
concerts I've ever seen, but not only, two days without sleep passed with carefree and unconsciousness that one
is at twenty.

And the game?

We saw the game in Asti, in the first place we found, the TV was in black and white, three tables of old people
playing cards, who couldn't care less about the game, we ordered something to eat ... and at the rigors wrong
by Cabrini the serenity in that trattoria suddenly changed !!!!

At the final whistle, we were all standing up and jumping on the tables, residents included !!

A magical day, to remember !!!

Turin 1982 - Many years have passed since the
frontman of the Rolling Stones wore Paolo Rossi's
jersey during a concert in Turin when Italy played
for the World Cup. And it brought luck!
