No video screens, Mick's trying to be seen in the massive crowds.
Keith, just plain hot as he turned 40. Period.
Thanks for the pics and info.

Your daughter wears it well (and your shirt is very cool, too). How nice that she's a Stones fan and you can enjoy the fantastic experience of a live Stones gig together smiling smiley

Thanks Plink, her first gig was the August 13, 2007 concert in Düsseldorf. It was like a dream coming true to me - taking my daughter to a Rolling Stones concert. That was the night before she was getting 18 and it was very special. She enjoyed it and her friends were really jealous. For the kids it was (and still is) very cool to wear Stones t-shirts but no one of her friends had seen them live - but my daughter has. BTW: the 2014 concert was the better one.

Fantastic! Most of the kids & young adults in my sphere have no interest in the Stones (or any rock & roll, for that matter) - some have never even heard of them. It warms my heart when I hear about young kids & young adults who truly love the band. I hope they return to Germany sometime soon so you and your daughter can share the amazing live Stones experience again smiling smiley

MY FIRST CONCERT ROAD TRIP, SEEING THE ROLLING STONES IN NEW ORLEANS
by Pat Adams

In 1981, it was announced that the The Rolling Stones were playing
two shows at the New Orleans Superdome in Louisiana on December
5th and 6th. Tickets were being sold in my home town of Nashville
Tennessee. A friend of mine and myself decided we would make that
trip to New Orleans to see the Stones. After all, I had seen them back
in 1972 at the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, which by the way was
the best concert that I had ever attended at that time.

We purchased our tickets for $18.50 at a Nashville record store for
the December 5th show. We left Nashville late the night before the
concert, planning to arrive the next morning in time to check into our
hotel room. We made it into New Orleans the next morning. We
checked into the hotel, rested up a bit and headed to the concert.
We got there early and was among the first people to get in the
Superdome. We enjoyed walking and up and down the ramps
checking out this massive venue, eventually ending up on the floor
level when the concert began.

The opening bands were the Neville Brothers, followed by George
Thorogood & The Destroyers. Both acts were good. They flashed up
on the sign that the concert had set a record for the largest indoor
concert ever held with 87,500 people, a record that stayed put until
recently. At one point they brought out a water hose and sprayed the
crowd from the stage, possibly to back people off away from the stage
or to cool the crowd up front. Then came time for The Rolling Stones
to come on. They came out and opened the show with the 60’s hit
Under My Thumb. They went on to perform songs including Shattered,
Time Is On My Side, and Beast Of Burden, before dedicating Waiting
On A Friend to John Lennon who had been murdered the year before.
They went on to play Miss You, Start Me Up, Honky Tonk Women,
Brown Sugar, Jumpin' Jack Flash, and others followed by the classic
Satisfaction as the encore. What a show!

I think most the crowd ended up in the French Quarter after the
concert, making it the most people the French Quarter had ever seen
at one time. It was wall to wall people, while many of them were yelling
“Rolling Stones“. We had some drinks, shrimp-on-a-stick, and bought
some souvenirs, before heading back to the hotel. We got some sleep
and made the trip back to Nashville the next day.

A very memorable trip.

"Hi,

I'm looking for photographs of the 1982 E.U.-Tour, specially for pictures showing Charlie "in action". I know there were some links posted a long time ago on this board of some professional photographer's webpages. But I'm also interested in amateur-pictures.

Thank you!

My pictures (sorry for the quality; very old scanner..)"

Denis O'Regan 1982

Keith-Richards-Hotel-Ritz-Paris

Keith Richards used to stay up for two full days before playing concerts.

While The Rolling Stones - currently performing their '50 and Counting' comeback shows in the US - may have a more relaxed attitude to touring now, when they were on the road in the 80s guitarist Keith would be awake for days between shows.

Photographer Denis O'Regan, who photographed the band on their European tour of 1982, told BANG Showbiz: ''Keith would usually stay up until the night before the show, so if we arrived on a Monday and the show was a Wednesday night, he would stay up until Tuesday and sleep until just before the show.

''A full court of people would come and go, he would always drape scarves over the lamps to create an atmosphere.

''That was the first thing he did when he went into his room, put the scarves over the lamps and just subdue the lighting and that's how it was for the next couple of days, with people coming and going, at all hours.''

Denis added his favourite shot of the tour was one of Keith smoking, which he says he was one of the earliest shots to be taken in that particular way.

He said: ''I love the one of Keith posing with his head on his hands with a cigarette which is one of the early shots like that, it was a bit more rock 'n' roll, that was the shot, Keith owned it really.'' [www.tv3.ie]

Keith really looked great this tour...the jeans, vest, boots were a simple but cool look. Much preferred over the satin jacket thing he is doing these past years.
