Did you ever see Howard Colson's 1972 guide as to what the Stones wore at each concert? Incredible! Great work! Harold Colson 1972 LINK

What did they wear in 1981? Which guitars did they use for which songs at each show?

All of Mick's outfits are hideous! But I like Bill's blue velour track suit. I think he still wears it around the house.

Back in 2005, I was lucky enough to know a girl that invited me to the famous designer of the classic stars, 'Manuel Cuevas', 70th Birthday party he was Nudie's guy who did the work on the 'Flying Burrito Bros' suits, etc, and I got to pick his brain a few minutes and I think he did some things for them for the '72 STP also besides a ton of other stars in those classic years....

DALLAS

I have this also cataloged as Dallas - photo by Ed Hille

In 1981, I was a young troop in the US Army, stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. A group of guys and me, the lone female, decided to get tickets to see what was then billed as The Rolling Stones "farewell tour."

Evidently, it would become the first of many until, well, they just don't bother to use that term anymore and besides, Keef is immortal.

Anyway, if I recall correctly, there was about 10 of us and we shared a cheap Motel 6 room, one of us actually checking in and the rest of us sneaking in. Gallant friends, they let me have one of the beds and there was no hanky panky. The other bed held two and the rest crashed with their government-issued sleeping bags.

I was shooting at the time with a Canon AE-1 and the cheapest 300mm lens I could afford. These are scanned from slide film because, well, it was cheaper than regular film to have developed. I was on somebody's shoulders to take these - could have been Chuck Krin, could have been George Shirey - but they remain an amateur look back at the past.

The Fabulous Thunderbirds and ZZ Top opened for them.

Keith at Long View Farm

January 1982 issue of CREEM with a MICK JAGGER interview - this week we have the follow-up, the February 1982 issue with a KEITH RICHARDS interview. Both interviews are by RAY BONICI.

The interview took place just before the start of the 1981 tour. Ray talks to Keith about all sorts of things - Mick, Stu, New Barbarians, Tatto You, Chuck Berry, Max Romeo, The Beatles, Bob Dylan.....

When Ray says that people seem to see Keith "more as the down-to-earth guy", Keith says "Like anybody else it was quite possible for me to go off the handle like Elton John and Rod Stewart and really believe and play the rock'n roll millionaire star trip".
