6 Rolling Stones would be accurate.

Is there a decent version ONLINE of the movie that I can buy? I noticed the DVD runs a little too fast.
Japanese bluray PCXE-50560 ???

Anyone knows if the speed is correct?

I love this album. Pure nostalgia. I remember fighting with my older brother as kids. He threw me or I him & we landed on a picture disc of the album. Broken record. He still hasn’t forgiven me. I now play the intro to my kid when we head out.

From the album, Under My Thumb is my favourite version ever of this song. From the same era and captured on that Hal Ashby film, Beast of Burden is outstanding !

I think bad teeth was fashionable in the late seventies. Maybe the event of synth-pop killed it?

This album, or actually at that time also the video, made me fall in love with the Rolling Stones and the 81-82 Tour (which I unfortunately never saw) is still my most favorite tour till today. It was mean and rough, great guitars! Since 1990 I never missed a tour!

Mick and Keith liked it!

Mick Jagger & Keith Richards (1982): Still Life
Mick: Live albums are funny things. I mean, it's not the sort of thing I rush home to play but this one sounds pretty good. It's... CONCISE. You know, it's like a telescopic version of the show.

Keith: All this live stuff I want to come out as soon as it's ready, you know. Otherwise it becomes history. I would've liked the live album to come out in January but it's impossible, you know - I was dead on me feet. It sounds pretty good to me and I don't generally like live albums. I've stuck with this one so - it's good stuff.

Received today the Virgin version. I already had the old CBS version, but I heard the Virgin sounds better. Does anyone know if this is thrue?

"Still Life" is a great album. I really like it.

It's short and concise. "Hampton" is too long.

Everybody I knew loved it at the time of it's release.

To me it went hand in hand with "Tatoo You".

The band was on a roll from 1978 to 1981 with 3 great
studio albums in a row, and "Still Life" was a great
closure.

It was the last thing to happen until their swan
song in 1989 ("Steel Wheels").

No love for Undercover?

No love for Dirty Work is perfectly understandable.

It's funny in that I like the sound of the 1981/82 tour, not as much as 1978, but it's crunchy, and the guitars work well.

The only thing I don't like about 80s Stones is Mick's vocals on some of Dirty Work. Undercover is an under-considered, underrated album with a great sound, and some great tunes on it. You can actually listen to it, and think this is a good album, a bit violent and aggressive in places, but a good album.

I think STILL LIFE has gotten a bad rep... it's a fantastic live album.

Yeah, that's a bit...

I love GHS, IORR and BAB, it's a different era with some great tunes, but their last great creative era was SOME GIRLS, EMOTIONAL RESCUE, SUCKING IN THE SEVENTIES, TATTOO YOU, STILL LIFE, UNDERCOVER and the sign off being REWIND.

I'm listening to it right now. I was supposed to be seeing them in Tampa tomorrow. Feeling a little sick.

Listened to it yesterday. I still think it's one of their better official live albums. The sound is great and I just love the strong and rough guitar versions of LSTNT, UMT, TIOMS and Start me Up! And what a great cover of Just my imagination. I only wish that they would have put the b-site of GTAGG, Beast of Burden, on the cd version as well.

It's always been beneath GYYYO! as everything should be. For years it was second. Then NO SECURITY came out and that was second.

But now?

I feel STILL LIFE is excellent and worthy of its original number 2 rank.

And what a great cover of Just my imagination.

Try to get the unedited/long version. It´s Hampton Dec. 19th, soundboard.
It´s 10 minutes long and a great jam! Best ever!

Fans of the Stones from the Ya-Ya's years or even the Love You Live years probably thought Still Life sucked. I know I did. I can see new fans liking it though...

I think you are correct.

The three albums can't be compared. They are all different. I'm glad to have all of them.

Still Life has so many great songs to listen to and it's different. It's not chocked full of war horses. It rocks. It's short and sweet. I love it.

I remember buying the LP when it first came out and wishing it was a 2 disc set. It always seemed short-changed and lacking something. Live stones were limited aside from poor-sounding bootlegs.

Today, we have the complete Hampton concert which definitely supercedes STILL LIFE.

How is he correct? Who think Still Life sucks?

As you say, it's great to have both.

To be a bit philosophical: I think your perspective changes depending on your age or when you first became a Stones. I loved both TY and SL. They were both new and fresh to me.
I became a Stones fan around that time. I had nothing else to compare with. But even in hindsight I think they are good. But maybe it's just my imagination running away with me?

It is good and in Argentina it marked a generation!
I think that is where the great fanaticism that exists today began!

In addition, several Still Life songs were played at the disco! It's so funny to see the boys and girls dance Jagger Style!

The album has a lot of energy, it lacks battlehorses, the guitars are well done but I always think that Bill Wyman's bass should sound louder.

This was a throwaway album to me when it first came out for the reasons you describe. It would have been more enjoyable and listenable had they included more cuts and made it a two disc set. Otherwise, the energy and playing was good.

I'm sure people wished for a second Ya-Yas-disc as well back then?
