I saw David Bowie in Toronto in 1983 (Serious Moonlight tour). Joe Jackson opened for him. He had great taste in threads. His music never moved me as much as the Stones but he was the nazz for sure...and a genius.

Favorite songs off the top of my head:
1. Kooks
2. Sound and Vision
3. Modern Love
4. Rebel Rebel
5. Young Americans

Farewell Ziggy.

Rebel Yell plus Tina Turner and the dear departed David Bowie. This is Tina is it not? Got rid of Ike so she could hang out with these two superior guys.

Eloquent tribute from Pete Townshend with a nice photo of him with Mick and David backstage at the Concert For New York in 2001.

Great interview with Cameron Crowe from Playboy in 1976. Bowie mentions Mick Jagger several times and gives very candid answers about his sexuality and drug use and talks about how he would like to make his death a sort of performance art.

Actually, in one of the photos Lou Reed looks more like the infamous Gary Glitter did in his 1970s prime.

Friend and collaborator Iggy Pop wrote on Twitter: "David's friendship was the light of my life. I never met such a brilliant person. He was the best there is."

Madonna said she was "devastated", writing on Facebook that Bowie "changed the course" of her life after she saw him perform - her first ever concert.
"I found him so inspiring and innovative," she wrote. "Unique and provocative. A real genius."

Brilliant pictures.

I particularly like the one of Ronnie with Keith Moon and David.

Also, the one above this post is infectious as it made me laugh!

Would it be a good idea to cover one of Bowie's songs next tour and if so, which one?
I think The Jean Genie would fit in a Stones setlist.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

After reading Pete Townshend's tribute to Bowie, I could see the Who doing something like this. It may have been another alcohol fueled spout off but I'm pretty sure I've read Keith saying some not so complimentary things about Bowie awhile back.

I watched Sound & Vision and Starman this morning, these were updated versions, S&V mentioned Blackstar, were these quickly thrown together by the BBC? I found them on a torrent site, if any of you use Dropbox I could send them to you.

Thanks Swiss and greatly appreciated! What a night that must have been.....to be a fly on the wall listening in to the very happy conversations. All three men were at the top of their game. Lou Reed, David Bowie, Mick Jagger.
Thanks for all the additional photos of the three!

Now that the sudden shock has slightly subsided (still difficult to believe), might be time for a bit of a laugh with Bowie (apologies if already posted).

David Bowie kicked of his Ziggy Stardust Tour on February 10th 1972. The start of something very big was to happen at a local pub to me in Tolworth , just down the road from Kingston and Richmond. It was one of those places that a lot of bands like Led Zep , The Yardbirds , John Mayall, Fleetwood Mac and many more played in the 60's and 70's.
Heres a few memories from someone who was actually there that night.

David Bowie at The Toby Jug pub.
