As a 10 year old I remember hearing 'Life on Mars' on my Gran's old radio. From that day on I became enthralled by Bowie and grew up with him throughout the decades. The Starman leaves behind one fantastic body of work and an everlasting legacy on music and style.

"We Can Be Heroes".

I'm devastated. I know the next time I listen to Blackstar will beyond emotional. It's like he willed himself to keep going until the release date. It was all in there - he told us but we didn't realise. What a stunning way to leave us.

Thank you, David. Thank you for everything.

I saw him multiple times in the Ziggy Stardust/Aladdin Sane days, less often since, but it seemed he would always be there. Yet he left us now with such quiet dignity, leaving behind a masterpiece of an album, that we have that as some small consolation for his loss.

Wow..such terrible news. I knew of his heart trouble but didn't expect anything else. He was a musician, a rocker, a innovator, a song writer and a actor. He
did all very well. This is such a huge loss. My sympathy to his family, and all
who knew David. Rest in Peace my friend thanks for all you have given us.

What a dignified exit from a great man. There were no press releases, just a man who got on with the business of creating a great album in *, possibly in the knowledge that he was dying.

From 1.Outside onwards, Bowie released album after album of great stuff, that I hope now will be reappraised. I, for one, have been having Slip Away on constant rotation from Heathen; what a great late period track !

I will be objective, almost controversial, and say that I didn't much like Ziggy era: the vocals were too histrionic, but love Hunky Dory, Man Who Sold The World, and then Diamond Dogs onwards. While Tonight and Never Let Me Down didn't bother me, Tin Machine first album had some good stuff, i.e I Can't Read. However, he was truly a great.

Saw him live in the '80's, '90's and '00's. Ahoy 2003 FOS was one of my best concert experiences ever. A true genius of pop and I think a great man too. RIP. I feel old suddenly.

I've seen David Bowie on the Sound & Vision Tour in a good concert in 1990 and also in a good show with his band Tin Machine in 1991.

He was truly one of the best and most talentest musicans, who ever lived on Earth.

RIP David Bowie
