Spirit Airlines-Mexico City ?
Posted by: chrism13 ()

Anybody know when/if Sprit is resuming flights to MC?

I see there are reasonable flights ($40-60) from Ft. Lauderdale to MC on other airlines in Mid-March but all flights returning are in $3-400 range. Is this considered Spring Break?

Yes it is around the beginning of the Spring Break. I think the fare hikes last
Around three weeks because not every school has the same week off in the US.

I didn't think MC was a big Spring break destination. Ouch!

I have taken spirit to MC a few times & really enjoy exploring the city. Not sure when they will continue service.

High season in Mexico, regardless of US spring break, is the last two weeks of march.

Beware that Spirit doesn't actually fly to Mexico City, it flies to Toluca, about 50 Miles from the venue and about 40 from the areas you'd want to stay at in Mexico City.

Where are you guys staying at? That makes it or breaks it in terms of transportation to the venue.

My Hotel is in Reforma, pretty close to the Metro station "Hidalgo".... but I heard the Metro wouldn`t be in service at the time the concert is over

I´m a teacher at a school in the middle of Mexico, yesterday my 6th graders (12 year olds) were all excited coming up to me: ´is it true you´re going to see the Rolling Stones?!´ ´Wow!´´I want to go too!´

I wasn´t expecting that!

if the Stones finish to play at 11 or 11.30pm, you can take the Metro without no problems, the last train goes out at 12.30pm.

outside foro sol are a lot of taxis, and most of the concerts i ever seen at the end always are buses to some different points of the city.

hey stones fans!

i am sure the hotels will have some type of shuttle service to Foro Sol.
the other option is calling UBER. cheap, safe and reliable.

i am staying in the Polanco area.

where are all stones fans meeting before and after the show???

Thanks for your answers, rogerriffin and marino66 - I think I will contact my hotel and ask for a shuttle...

A meeting before the show would be fun - any suggestions for a location? drinking smiley

Just wondering, how safe is Mexico City for me being alone if I were to go just to the one show on the 17th? I would fly from the US in on the 16th, staying at the Grand Prix, leave the 18th, use the hotel's airport shuttle to get to and from the airport. I would basically just come for the show and leave.

It´s pretty safe in that case, and you are really close to the foro sol.

Anyone going to the show on monday 14th?

Hi Amy,

I took several trips to MC recently & love the place. It may take getting used to but i found it simular to exploring NY ...tons of museums, restaurants etc. I also found it safer! Especally in the Centro Historic area/Zocolo. I am a aingle male so if may be different you but I walked around a lot of areas solo ...did not have any troubles at all. Nobody offered to sell me anything ...very much like NYC in that everybody is busy doing their own thing. I took the subways to various areas. You should be fine. I was trying to go back for the two shows but could not find a decent prices flight coming back. I used Spirit before but they are not flying there at this time of year. Also busy time at work so I was shooting for Cuba. Enjoy!

Hi All,

Does anyone have 1 extra ticket, preferably in sections 1,2,3,4 or possibly 9 or 10 for the March 14th show? Maybe even 6 or 7 in the first few rows? Thanks!!

Does anyone have experience buying day-of tickets at the box office for a show like this? Especially in Mexico? I've done it in the US and never had a problem getting a ticket, even at a sold out show. I can't seem to find a solo ticket and am wondering what the likelihood would be I'd have any luck at the box office a day or two before the show.

hey stonesfan7676. I headed to Mex City on show day (afternoon) last time they played here (2008 ish), trying to find a ticket from the box office, scalpers, whatever.

I had absolutely no luck. Not even from profiteering scalpers.

I gave up and joined the party outside the stadium, as thousands of ticketless fans danced, sang, climbing trees for a glimpse in to the stadium etc...

Yes, you can find them on Oxxo stores. Those stores are similar to 7-Eleven and they are very common in Mexico
