Does anyone know where are the good areas to go at night for restaurants and bars in Porto Alegre and where if any are the areas to avoid ?

Nice quarter to stay near the Parkão.
I'm from Montevideo but know POA very well.

This hotel is located very near to where I live, and that area it's not very safe at night. You can take a walk on other areas (Moinhos de Vento and Cidade Baixa), but take care when coming back to the hotel, because it's not safe to take a walk there at night.

Well Nate, is downtown, always better by day but at night I think is safe too, don't worry. I stayed in Hotel Embaixador last times that is, more or less, the same area.
It's a very nice city, I think is the most "european" city of Brazil.

And Montevideo? Don't you come to the show here? It's very nice too.

I will talk with my friend who I am coming to Brazil with maybe we will look at booking a different hotel in a more safe area or maybe just take taxis from the hotel and back at the night time.

The taxi fares here are cheap comparing to other places, so it's a good option for you. The hotel you're staying at is one of the best hotels here. It's located on a not so safe area, although it's not a really dangerous one. If you need any further infos, don't hesitate to ask me.

I have just booked another hotel the Laghetto Viverone Moinhos on Rua Doutor Vale.
Both the hotels are free to cancel and they are the same price so when I talk with my friend tomorrow I will cancel one of the hotels.
It seems that the Laghetto Viverone Moinhos is a better area to stay in?

Yes, Nate. The hotel it's located on a very beautiful area, with a lot of good options of bars and restaurants. Although it's not very near to the stadium, it's very easy to get there by taxi or bus.

We're staying at the Hotel Laghetto Viverone Moinhos, Rua Doutor Vale.

Prezado Cristiano como estás. Is there any chance to get a pista ticket for the show in POA? It was impossible for me get one.

I wouldn't say it's impossible to get one ticket for Porto Alegre, but these are possibly the most sought-after tickets in Brazil. There's not too much people selling them and most of the time they're asking scandalous prices. Just as an example, a premium ticket which has a face value of approx. US$ 300.00 is being offered for the double of that price or more than that. If by any chance I hear or know somebody who has one ticket for a fair price (ie = face value) I'll let you know.
