Re: Bernard Fowler / Earl Slick gigs

It ‘seems’ (not confirmed that I can find)that the US Slick/Fowler dates are off. Earl has joined the Celebrating Bowie tour. The Delaware date on Ticketmaster is showing cancelled, and the date near Boston is ‘off sale.’

To clarify - that's the Celebrating Bowie tour I believe? NOT the Station to Station show.
Both Slick AND B. Fowler are now part of this, in the US.

In France they are also playing Paris Olympia and Lille. It seems the best tickets are available through gdp website (promoter), i just scored row 1.

Bernard is great. Nice to see him in a non-Stones, non-jazz milieu. He did a Bowie obscurity at the Wiltern a few years ago - "Win," maybe? - and killed. Mick is so lucky to have him.

These Bowie tributes might be going to the well a bit too often, though. The L.A. Orpheum is maybe one-third sold, with a month to go. I may Stubhub it on the night.

Can you give us your thoughts on it Erwin, I’m on the fence about the Vancouver gig. A review would be nice.

Look as long as there's no Reeves Gabriel it might be worth listening too.

Reeves is 1 of my favorite guitar players ever. The records Bowie put out with him sound real good today still. Perhaps even better as IMHO they were ahead of their time. Lot of Bowie stuff is like that. I'm excited for the new Cure record with Reeves finally. Also, have had a bit of interaction with Reeves & his wife. He's a really nice guy & his wife is awesome too. They were very supportive when a friend of mine was ill. Looking forward to seeing the Cure with him on guitar again. The 2 shows I saw in 2016 were stunning.

i as a bloke who grew up with 70's - 80's Bowie, I did not appreciate Reeves avant grande contribution to his work.

in isolation i can admire his skill and ability, but in the context of Bowies output I can absorb but not enjoy.

Much respect to Reeves as an artist, I thought "Tin Machine" was unique and innovative, just not in my wheelhouse

I can respect your opinion & how you stated it. Nice to have some discourse without resorting to insults, etc. If you get a chance to go see the Cure with him on guitar (Europe this summer, NA probably in the fall) do it. I think you would be impressed. The current band is top notch & do long shows with the set lists varying every night (maybe not so much on the festival dates this summer). They had been my bucket list band & certainly lived up to what I was hoping for. "Edge of the Deep Green Sea" has been spectacular lately!

Next time you're hanging out, maybe suggest Reeves organize a "Tin Machine Celebration" with the Sales and guest vocalists. I'll be first in line for that.

I saw the show at a shitty Casino ballroom in Reno, good show but could be great if it was in a good room.

I'm down with that. I saw the Post Pop Depression show & it was amazing. Also was lucky enough to see the Stooges when both Asheton brothers were still alive. Still can't believe that happened. So sad they are gone now. Just watched the "Gimme Danger" documentary. It was quite good.
