Can't beat Hank Snow's version of "I'm Movin' On" but
always loved seeing and hearing the Stones do it.
Do you have a favorite version by the Stones?

Agree - nothing beats Hank Snows original version.
The best aspect of Stones versions is Brian's slide guitar.
I really like Ray Charles' version from 1959.
I also like this Johnny Nash version from 1963 with the hip xylophone.

When and where did you actually see them doing this one?

Love Elvis' gospelish version:

Here's another Elvis take:

I can see Mick dancing around the stage to the above arrangement, hear Keith crunching out the rhythm, Ronnie going apesh*t on pedal steel, Charlie beating them skins and Daryl pumping up the bass.

Gotta love the Stones version of this here. Would love to hear them do a long take on this now - studio and or live - using the same punky/bluesy/driving beat.

Love the Stones' version because of Micks' iconic 'Owwwww!!!!' at the end.

Emmy Lou Harris's live version rocks too.

I've listen to all the versions this morning.
Ray Charles is likely the best of all...from his 1959 ATLANTIC LP

Ray Charles version is great.

Elvis' version was equally brilliant, and the uncredited arranger was Dan Penn of all people.

I've never SEEN the Stones do this number, but it is indeed one of my favorites of the Brian era. His slide is downright demonic on England '65 and December's Children. It really captures the lost sound of the early group, when they killed audiences with sound. We think they were screaming because it was the teeny bop era, but unlike the Beatles, the Stones were mowing them down with the music.

And no I can't imagine the senior citizen version of the Stones giving this song anywhere near the energy it demands.

Whether it is 100% live or not, The Rolling Stones version on GLIYWI ep is a highlight of their catalogue. Hank Snow and Ray Charles' versions are excellent, let there be no doubt but that Stones version has everything that was great about the Jones era Stones. Charlie and Bill doing it, Keith on rhythm guitar chugging away, Mick absolutely slaying it on the mic and of course....Brian himself on the slide. Plus Mick blows a mean harp.
I'm never movin on , i like Jones Stones the best of all Stones eras and this is a prime example of what they did and why it caused a fuss.

This....I think. But they are all great, especially the Stones. What a force of nature Brian was on the slide!
