Some hates: Grandma Got Run Over by A Reindeer; whatever the h*ll that Alvin and the Chipmunks song is.

The Chipmunks were not known for the reindeer song, it was Christmas Don't be Late. I used to listen to the chipmunks album whenever I visited my maternal grandparents. It strikes me funny now as they were very formal people - my grandfather would come always to dinner in a jacket - but he loved that album. Anyway, here is their Christmas song...

CAN'T STAND "Last Christmas" by anyone. It isn't even a Christmas song.

McCartney's song is just . . . just bad. Sounds like a Sesame Street song.

My favorite is the classic "O Holy Night"

This may be blasphemous but "Christmas Time is Here" from Charlie Brown's Christmas is so depressing to me. When I hear it I can't help but picture a family after opening all their gifts, disappointed in not getting what they wanted, paper and boxes strewn everywhere, and everyone just laying around. I know, terrible!

I hate them all but "Last Christmas I gave you my heart etc..." by Wham or George Michael is one of the worst.

Favorite: Silent Night with guitar accompaniment (A capella also acceptable but w/ guitar is preferred).
Least Favorite: Silent night with any accompaniment other than the above.

Merry Christmas by Slade is good even though it's played to death, I Believe in Father Christmas by Greg Lake is a good twist on the usual pap and Merry Christmas, War Is Over by John & Yoko is a truly beautiful song. In general though, I loathe Christmas.

I definitely hate "Last Christmas"
I love the Christmas recordings by the Brian Setzer Orchestra and Aretha Franklin. In 1980 there was a funny Christmas recording by an english punk band called the Yobs (which was a pseudonym for the Boys).
And I loike "Father Christmas" by the Kinks.

I do like Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses and The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole. I'm also partial to Little St Nick by the Beach Boys and Step into Christmas by Elton John.

I've got no time for anything from Michael Buble's Christmas album, far too smaltzy even for this time of year.

Mariah Carey`s "All I Want For Christmas" sounds like a twist on the well known "Jinglebells", played backwards or something and with a lot less humour...

I love Happy Xmas (War is Over)! Such a thrillingly beautiful song. Father Christmas by the Kinks is fantastic! So funny! Run Rudolf Run of course! And I love Little Drummer Boy, Blue Christmas, and Silent Night is a classic.

Little Drummer Boy has long been my favorite too but just about anything from Bing Crosby or Andy Williams will get me in the mood due to childhood associations.
