It's been like this with Springsteen in Europe for decades now. Passionate fans!

In a city like Gothenburg, you can bet the first people will camp out for more than a week.

(Yes, it is nuts.)

323 in line an hour and a half ago according to Twitter.

[twitter.com]

My bad, I was wrong about the size of the line earlier, now corrected. Last roll call last night had 190 ppl.

So slewan, if 40's nuts the day before the show, what's 400?

it's 10 times more people that are nuts.
What do they expect? spending some 24 hrs in front of a venue to get maybe 3 meters closer to stage?

For the last U2 tours fans had roll calls for several days. Sometimes they even "queued" before a hotel and were allowed to sleep at night.

They don't actually spend all that time there. Instead, they have agreed on roll calls at certain intervals. (If you fail to show up at a roll call, you lose your spot.)

On show day, the line will stay in place from about 1 PM onwards.

But yes, very little reward for a lot of effort. Still, to some people that front rail seems to be important. Believe it or not, there's also a social aspect to the whole process.

Me and my girlfriend used to hang out with the top 10, 20-fans in Sweden. Tent, sleepingbags and a number written on the hand was the normal way to see Springsteen. Wonderful parties outside the stadium and horrible hangovers the day after when Bruce came on. But now I´m old and wise.

well. I traveled a lot to see Dylan. But I never understood those fans who travel to so many great places but spend their days just hanging around the venues and/or in some nearby bars

Nils Lofgren has a new solo album coming out in July.
First single is in open-G, fairly Stones-y.

There’s also a tribute to Charlie Watts.

you're just coming to this conclusion now? They line up for every new iphone iteration, like they'll somehow sell out.

Parken in Copenhagen will probably have the roof closed for the two concerts in July.

Good point. If you only show up on the afternoon of the show, you'll still get a good spot in the pit, I think this generally applies to any artist.

On previous tours, most Springsteen concerts in Europe were GA only (as far as the floor goes) and part of lining up was the decide who actually gets in the pit.

This time, he has sold separate FOS/pit tickets (except Dublin) but people still line up. Now it's only about the order in which the first people get in.
