I've had the pleasure of seeing E Street live a dozen times. Been there, done that.

On a related note, my wife has been trying to secure tickets for Harry Styles with no luck whatsoever. Astronomical pricing.

I see that. I’ve been more than a dozen times. Some were incredible (Leeds 2013) and some merely had their moments (Manchester 2016)
The thought that i might get to one of those special nights when Bruce and the band catch fire is still alluring. Sadly, Springsteen is not the man I thought he was. He said on Broadway that he was ‘a fraud’. Right now that looks like hiding in plain sight. I will still enjoy the albums…but beyond that? It’s over.

Garth Brooks' take on dynamic pricing, from an interview with Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:

What are your thoughts about the use of dynamic pricing on tickets? [Dynamic pricing, where the price of tickets for a show fluctuates depending on the demand for tickets, is being used by Ticketmaster ostensibly to prevent scalping, but has basically just made itself the scalper.]

GB: That’s a tough one. [Bruce] Springsteen is going through it right now. We’re all watching it. Here’s the bottom line for me, and I know this is silly, but I have screamed and screamed as long as you’ve known me: just knock out scalping. That’s it. Just make it illegal. That way, the price of the ticket is the price of the ticket. The same money is going to be exchanged when scalping tickets, it’s just now who gets the money, that’s the difference. The thing I hate about it, the hardest it’s on is the fan, the one who allows you to live your dream.

But if you go play Vegas, you do a residency, you’re going to do dynamic pricing. It’s going to be tough, so residencies are hard, but they always are because of the limited amount of seating anyway.

$485 for the opposite end of the arena in Albany, NY. Or I could do the floor for $599. I mean what the hell, if I’m paying that much might as well pony up the extra $100!!!

Good dude with a good heart. At his last Nashville show, every ticket was $95. Not sure if he used anti-scalping measures or not (Bruce tickets were $399-$99, and that’s before VIP, Platinum, or dynamic pricing was added). Pearl Jam and Rage Against the Machine have used anti-scalping measures that have worked very well. Go ahead. See if you can find any PJ ($99) or Rage tickets ($125) that are being scalped. Eliminating scalping, while keeping prices low, can be done. It is being done. Bruce just doesn’t give a shit.

From None But The Brave Podcast

As we mentioned on the last episode about rumblings of a new
@springsteen release, those rumblings have gotten much louder and we expect Bruce to release a soul covers record this fall. A small number of shows to promote it are also expected. Count us as intrigued

From Broadway Bruce to Soul Man Bruce?

Okay.

To blow off steam over his ticket price increases, over on BTX I've enjoyed using the "Tour Name?" thread, which quickly turned into parodies, with my own suggestions for tour names.

The guy set himself up for the blowback he's gotten, with all his decades of his bard of the common man stuff.

While the below certainly includes overkill -- the Stones rip us off too, as does Macca, etc etc -- like I say, Bruce set himself up with all his Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger posing. And, I find parody snarking fun. So, some of my 2023 tour name suggestions:

The River of Benjamins Tour

The What, You Believed All My Bullshit? Tour

I'm up for this @ least the record. The tour sounds like smaller venues & will most likely be really spendy. Seems to be a trend with the Boss.

The now ever present scandal of ticket pricing is always going to look a lot worse in connection with the biggest icon of "Blue collar Rock and Roll".

You'd think he might have made some comment ..

Maybe too embarrassed to know just what to say ?

What can he say?

The only comment Bruce's camp has made on this matter was what Jon Landau Management said back in July.

well, no artist is being forced to accept dynamic pricing. Especially artists like Springsteen, The Stones etc. have enough market power to have it their way

It's ok Bruce, your still the Boss in my book (just an older Boss)

PS- I'd refrain from wearing those glasses on stage when you go on tour next year, ok (LOL)?

My wallet is very happy to know that the Rolling Stones are the only pop musicians "universally regarded as among the very greatest artists of [their] generation" (to use Landau's words) who I am still interested in following ..

What scam? He's just doing what basically everyone else in the industry, including the Stones, is doing. There's nothing new about dynamic/Platinum pricing.

BTW, even Bruce already used DP/Platinum as early as back on the 2016 River tour (the fall leg). People seem to forget that. Granted, the base prices back then were considerably lower ($160 face for GA compared to $399 GA Pit for 2023).

We saw this coming with the Broadway pricing.
