It would be fine if they release ONCE AND FOR ALL mocambo and knebworth!

The From The Vault series is video, some sets have CD's too, so El Mocambo(which wasn't filmed) won't be part of Vault series. The BBC erased or recorded over two hours of the Knebworth concert leaving the one hour of film that we have had for years!

Sorry, but not true..Knebworth 76 audio is complete and video is complete. There was even thought about releasing it a year or two ago.
True though that El Mocambo was not film, even at my suggestion that they should have filmed it back in 1977.

Good news for Knebworth 76. A long setlist at that show.

Only some tracks are very good, some tracks are very messy. Never I heard such a chaotic LSTNT. Then there are some feedback thunderstorms on Hot Stuff and Hey Negrita. On some tracks (one or two) there are drop outs of the vocals. It would be no advantage to have that in my opinion. Maybe a shortened edition with the good tracks.

No that version is awesome! Such energy and while it's not very rehearsed it still rocks like hell. Satisfaction from Knebworth is also an amazing version, better any version performed in previous years. I love everything about Stones live in 1976 best tour of it's decade.

The 75/76 tour is a highlight without any doubt. But there are many better gigs than Knebworth, e.g. Paris 76.

Maybe most of the blemishes can be polished out in the studio? To me Hot Stuff
and Hey Negrita would be essential in a 1976 stones concert.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before but I've just read an article in the latest December issue of Uncut magazine about some Kurt Cobain archive material that's being released.

The article quotes Brett Morgen who is the man behind this release and also of course Crossfire Hurricane and he says the following about being initially underwhelmed by what Kurt Cobain material he found- 'If you go to the Rolling Stones archive, you enter a refrigerated room the size of four football fields. There's a room with props, there's a room where they keep their masters, there's a film vault.....'

Because it's not a Stones article the quote ends there but surely they are (fingers crossed!) keeping this stuff for a reason?!

Sorry if the above is old news.....

Please advise where you get the info regarding the 69 film ? Sounds too good to be true. Thanks

Until thkbeercan or someone else clears that up I would take it as only a wish list!

I reached out to someone who knows--not true about 1969 MSG film. I thought because thkbeercan once said he used to work for Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, his claim that MSG 1969 film was more than wishful thinking...

Id love to see more of the Maysles footage from 1969.
Altamont, the night before Altamont, other shows throughout the tour...but that is probably a different topic.

not in this particular order.....

Paris 1976, Atlantic City 1989, New Jersey or Miami 1994, Japan 1995, St. Louis or LIVE At The 10 Spot 1997. An extended "Stripped" is also a possibility.

ABKCO & Rolling Stones joint venture 2 DVD set of music videos similar to Beatles "1+".

I am truly sorry that my post appears to have mislead people. I'm a little confused as to why, however. All the other postings to this topic which preceded mine were all in the vein of "wish lists". I posted mine and it got interpretted not as a wish list, but as 'insider information'. I would have been more definitive if that were the case. I thought I cleared it up with my 'If wishes were wild horses..'response, but I guess I was the only person who got the joke. Again, sorry to have 'caused you any pain....'

However, if anyone at ABKCO or the Stones office want to take my post and make a release schedule out of it, be my guest....

If it's a 2cd set with Bill's Radio Luxembourg acetate and the full Curly Clayton acetate then we have a winner.
Am I correct in thinking that the Crawdaddy reel is owned by Mick and his brother Chris has a copy of the Curly Clayton acetate ?
As Bill owns the Radio Luxembourg acetate and Luxy is defunct, could they not combine all these with some more Little Boy Blue snippets and cut out ABKCO altogether ?
Historically that would be a quite brilliant release. They could always chuck on the IBC acetate again and a few of the early composing demos like the one written and sung by Brian too.
Might prompt ABKCO to get off their arse and do something with the Stones 60s studio output coz I'm assuming everyone here wants a super deluxe Beggars which should feature a lot more studio work than the extremely tight fisted selection delivered on the Sticky Fingers set.
I'd be happy with an official FLAC download of all that.

From The Vault also included Brussels with the Japanese Marquee set. So it isn't really accurate to say that the series is only video.

It's reasonable to expect the upcoming releases to cover tours which has not gotten any release in ''From The Valut'' series yet.
I think it's very likely that the next batch of releases will include concerts from 1976 and 1999, maybe something from 2002, maybe something from 1994-95 and hopefully something unknown from the 70's.

I think it's Mick that has the Curly Clayton acetate but the whereabouts of the Crawdaddy footage is unknown.
VideoJames (James Karnbach) wrote this in these pages earlier this year:
"I have only seen two stills from the film, but I did locate it though. Giorgio (Gomelsky) hired/asked me to help find it Back in the 70's. I went to London with a letter from Giorgio saying I was authorized to obtain the film for him. Well after some crazy wild places I had gone to. I located the film. But do to unforeseen circumstances , I could not bring the film back to Giorgio. While over in London I also located a film with Charlie Watts from a 1961 gig. Now I'm not sure if I can ever get the film back to Giorgio it may be to late. To go so far and to be so close was really very upsetting to me. Had I known earlier what I found out when I got there, I most likely would have the film today!!"

A reel to reel tape was bought at Christies auction in 2004 of the Stones playing at the Crawdaddy. Not all 14 songs were complete but a few were.
I think (?) Mick bought it but could be wrong.
The Gomelsky tape is something else altogether.

By the end of this year, anything unreleased recorded before the end of 1965 will be out of copyright. If the Stones and/or ABCKO release something, it can be copied by anyone and released in a cheaper package, like the BBC releases that are already available. So very doubtful they would do that, even if they packaged it up all nicely for hard cores.

Any news regarding the next From The Vault release? Is something planned for the Spring just like last year?

There were rumours about Amsterdam 95 by VideoJames last summer. Also Shepherds Bush and San Jose 1999 were rumoured.

Love in Vain Houston, Texas, June 25, 1972 is not the best version of the tour.
For example I think that the version of the show of 24 June in Texas is better than this one.

At this point the may release officially the 'Unreleased Decca Live Album'.

ABKCO & Rolling Stones joint venture 2 DVD set of music videos similar to Beatles "1+".

Atlantic City was a PPV and there are definitely good quality copies hanging around. One of the best bits is when Clapton does an ace solo on Red Rooster, and Mick gives him a huge grin as he walks back. It's very good.

"1+" is outstanding (on Blu Ray) and there's absolutely no reason at all why The Stones shouldn't do similar.

I'd buy Shepherds' Bush if it came out.... a memento of a great few days in London would be lovely.
