Really love her music. She's older than I thought. About same age as me, God help her! Her last pop album, "Wallflower", was excellent. During the last few weeks of my dad's life he was in a hospice & I was working virtually from his room. I was playing music for him off my computer, some stuff that I knew he liked & then some that I thought he might enjoy. "Wallflower" was in the latter category & he really liked it a lot. So that album is a little special for me.

Happy Birthday Dianna! I believe she and Elvis have a house in West Vancouver, probably one of several all over the world!

Diana Krall was the headliner at the Rochester International Jazz Festival 2 or 3 years ago. I took my wife and son to see her play at the Eastman Theatre. My son who was 11 or 12 at the time and knew her music per DVDs and CDs I had around the house. Afterwards, I convinced my wife and son to go around the building where the artists come out. Believe it or not, we were the only ones there. My wife and my son were uncomfortable hanging out waiting for Diana and pleaded with me to leave. I kept saying, let's just hang out a little more. In the meantime, one of Diana's handlers was out smoking a cigarette. She overheard us talking to a driver (who was gonna be taking Diana to the airport) including the fact that this was my son's first major concert, how he liked Diana's music, etc. The handler goes back inside and a minute or two later, out comes Diana Krall. She immediately walks over to my son and starts chatting him up- "What's your name? How old are you? Did you like the show?", etc. She talked to my son David for about five minutes. My son stood there with his mouth open-he was awestruck! I have to say (from a guy's perspective) as I was standing right next to her-she was a beauty (and quite tall)! Before Diana leaves, her handler gives her her latest CD. She takes a black magic marker and writes on the cover of the disc "To David from Diana." She says good-bye to me, my wife, and son, gets in her vehicle and and is driven away to the airport. She was so gracious and humble. I will never forget that night.

For Stones50: We could be talking about Diana Ross. Sorry about the first name misspeling in the thread heading folks. Be happy we aren't talking about Diana Ross. Re Sighunt's comment about how Diana looked, I repeat, that Elvis Costello fellow is one lucky guy.

The most beautiful voice I've ever heard.

The most beautiful voice I´ve ever heard belongs to adorable ELLEN PAGE and she isn´t even a singer (although she sang one song on the "Juno"-soundtrack).

I think her last date probably said 'uncle' early in the evening.

I saw her Saturday night. She was great, with that dulcet, sexy voice. One of the few acts I've liked more live than on studio albums, with me ungenerously thinking, "She's out of Elvis' league." Oh, my. The crowd knew—and she mentioned—that the venue was historically special because she had once obscurely played the cocktail lounge in the Westin hotel literally down the block, and here she was—up that same block—playing a big venue that's had the Bolshoi Ballet, Sonny Rollins, etc, etc...

Dolly Parton is 70 years young today. Wow. Here's a link to my fave song by her, followed by a tune from her album with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris which is so classic country.
