Aside from his National Service in Germany and a plane-stop on an airfield somewhere in Scotland, Elvis never set foot in Europe or the U.K. It’s almost tragic. He was so incredibly huge outside of North America and he wanted to perform here.

Elvis and "the boys" spent some time in Paris and had a wild time. The Lido showgirls would all go over to Elvis hotel and the Lido manager would have to send someone over to get them back so they could do their floorshow. I think this was during a 2 week pass that EP had. The pic of Elvis and Bill Haley was taken during this time. He still never performed in Europe and very much wanted to. That was why he was so anxious to get a federal agent credential from Nixon. He thought that with it he could carry weapons and drugs across international borders and at the time he was planning to tour Europe and Japan in the coming year. Tom Parker turned the tour into the Hawaii satellite special in '73. No visas required.

and why did elvis get mixed up with this guy then, why didnt he walk and make his own decisions. did he sign his life away early on.

Elvis signed a management contract with Bob Neal January 1, 1955. Elvis was 19. On June 17, 1955, Parker convinced Neal to let him handle all of Elvis bookings. Parker of course eventually assumed full management. Parker's credibility came from having formed a management team with Hank Snow, Hank Snow Attractions. It was Hank Snow who introduced Presley to Parker.

Elvis was controversial early in his career. The dancing, the clothes, the music. Maybe Elvis was grateful that Parker helped increase his mass appeal and acceptability. Also, he didn't impede the '68 comeback special, the Memphis sessions, and allowed Elvis to go back to touring. The Vegas stands weren't a bad idea. They had lower costs and were accessible to the entire West Coast audience.

Elvis thrived on challenges, which the '68 Special certainly was. His stints in

Las Vegas served a purpose initially but all the guys in the Memphis Mafia said

that after doing it for a few years he came to hate it (no longer a challenge).

By '74 he was chomping at the bit to tour the world but the Colonel wouldn't go

for it, and years later we learned why.

And on March 24, 2020 (give or take a day or two), Elvis will have been dead for as long as he was alive.

Nonsense. Elvis was returning to the US on military travel orders and his two hour layover at Prestwick Airport in SCOTLAND is well documented by the press.

2005 re-release? still having Top 5 chart hits almost 30 years after his passing away.
"... In August 1977 the "King of Rock'n Roll", Elvis Presley,
died of a heart attack and his song "Way Down", which was already in the charts at the time, quickly climbed to number one...
...Presley achieved four further posthumous number ones in the 2000s.

In 2002 his song "A Little Less Conversation", a little-known former B-side, topped the charts after being remixed
by Dutch dance music producer Junkie XL for a television advertisement for Nike,
which broke Presley's long-standing tie with The (stinkin') Beatles for the most UK number ones.

Three years later three of his singles returned to the top spot
when all his previous number one singles were re-issued to mark what would have been his 70th birthday."

“...it was like he came along and whispered some dream in everybody’s ear, and somehow we all dreamed it.”
- Bruce Springsteen

“Elvis is the greatest cultural force in the twentieth century. He introduced the beat to everything..." Leonard Bernstein

"A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man’s music,
when in fact, almost every black solo entertainer copied his stage mannerisms from Elvis.”
- Jackie Wilson

(I don't think Big E could really begin to touch the cuff of Jackie's slacks
as far as movement and rocking dance performances from singers go...
...but Mr. Wilson is quite a reliable source).
I'll link that wild Shindig performance later in the month.
This is EP homage.

“...At Sun Studio in Memphis Elvis Presley called to life what would soon be known as rock and roll
with a voice that bore strains of the Grand Ole Opry and Beale Street,
of country and the blues. At that moment, he ensured - instinctively, unknowingly -
that pop music would never again be as simple as black and white.”
- David Fricke, "Rolling Stone," 1986

“Elvis Presley’s death deprives our country of a part of itself. He was unique, irreplaceable.
More than twenty years ago, he burst upon the scene with an impact that was unprecedented and will probably never be equaled.
His music and his personality, fusing the styles of white country and black rhythm and blues, permanently changed the face of American popular culture.
His following was immense.
And he was a symbol to people the world over of the vitality, rebelliousness and good humor of this country.”
- President Jimmy Carter,
his official statement following Elvis' death in 1977
