I was thinking of using these photos, but aren't they from around 1989?

1989 Stones... a slight difference.

I'd have thought HMS would be all over this thread...

Strange, innit.

My copy of DW still has the red cellophane on it...I like how it hides the "dirty" on the cover, so it looks like the album is just called "Work" which is probably what the sessions felt like I imagine...

It certainly is describes the listening experience pretty closely. They may have just called it, "Chore".

If you notice...Charlie is staring down on the promo pic and
looking at the floor on the album cover...a telling sign of
what was going on...he was embarrassed about the album and
dealing with his personal addictions at that time.

Very sad.

Is this around the time of the R'n'R Hall of Fame induction?

I don't think he heard it at the time and imo he probably has yet to hear it... or to able to tell which tracks he played on : "bloody hell who's on this song? Certainly not me! Is it Keith's friend... Steve what'shisname?" grinning smiley

You cut off the second part of his quote - he was going through a lot of personal stuff.

I know : back then (93?) I read the RS interview where CW mentioned his addiction.

He even added a lovely anecdote : during the DW sessions he feel off his stool while playing drums. KR picked him up and told him "hey that's the kind of thing I'm supposed to do!".
What a witty classy comment! thumbs up

Mick was right when he said that in 85-86 the band was so weak it couldn't cross the Champs-Elysées... Must have been pretty hard for him : Keef was just off the junk for 3 or 4 years and CW feel right in it.

I believe I read somewhere where Keith said that Charlie recommended Steve Jordan to him...

Awful shoes Keith and Mick are wearing for the One Hit video.

I remember I liked Mick's jacket though. I thought it was pretty cool.

I've always gotten a chuckle out of the shoes commentary here at IORR. The hair as well, and sometimes the clothes. But the shoes...

Just absolutely constant!

Wow!...Just noticed the Shoes..a.k.a Sneakers!

NIKE!!!!

The biggest sneaker company in the world!

Did Mick Jagger take a side check back in the 1980's from NIKE in the companies early infancy to wear the sneakers in the "One Hit To The Body" video to promote the company...Is he a silent investor?

Nah...Mick would never do something like that...yeah right.

Keith "Hey Mick...I heard through the grapevine that you got a $50K check from that new sneaker company NIKE for wearing their sneakers in our new video"...Mick's response...what is a NIKE?...I'm not familiar with that word"

Hate me for it, but I still love Dirty Work (apart from the overblown production). It was my first Stones album that I bought when it came out. Still have the sticker that came with it.

When I interviewed Joe Satriani (who was in MJ's touring band at the time) said that he always thought that there wasn't any tension between MJ and KR, and that the whole thing was an act. He must have talked about these things with MJ.

I am sure they had some disagreements over touring DW, and the media picked up on the story, and MJ and KR went along with the media coverage. Why not feed the media? It was a great story that led to great expectations for the Steel Wheels tour.

I mean KR never liked MJ's albums. Dogshit in the Doorway, as he described MJ's album. And his comments didn't affect their relationship. Even his autobiography didn't cause super huge tensions between the two.

A lot of myth surrounding the Stones.

He also told me that he ran into KR soon after the tour with MJ, and he thought that KR will not be happy to see him, but instead KR said something nice about Joe working with MJ. I can't remember the exact words Joe told me, and the interview is somewhere on a MiniDisc...

It was kinda funny that at the time JS's album was doing better in the charts than MJ's...
