If classical pieces are allowed, this thread might take some time!

The Meters & The Funky Meters - Anything without lyrics
Example (In my mind the first two seconds don't make this non-instrumental in my book):

JS Bach - Toccata & Fugue in D minor
Although it was written for organ, I LOVE this version:

thumbs up First song on the first record I ever bought - War Heros.

I used to play this song cranked up on a boombox as I walked the hall of my high school between classes. Great tune.

You're right. I thought I'd try to sneak these in and see if anyone noticed!

However, Prelude No. 1 is a part of Procol Harum's "Repent Walpurgis", an instrumental!

Apache - The Shadows.
The Stumble - Freddie King

I know it is perhaps somewhat minor, but I have always enjoyed the early Beatles self-penned number, Cry For A Shadow. A definite Shadows pastiche, of course, but utterly wonderful nonetheless. A rare so verifying credit, too: Lennon-Harison.

Funny you should mention that as his version of "A Taste of Honey' from 1966 is superb!
My parents played that album repeatedly, and that particular tune brings back floods of memories of being a toddler and stomping around the beaches of So.Cal.
As a matter of fact, this video looks to be filmed somewhere around Malibu - maybe Leo Carillo Beach?

Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass - A Taste of Honey

Nice visual that! I'm sure the more conservative teachers just loved you. lol I have very specific memories of listening to it too. My folks had a wet bar with a built in turntable and a screen on the front with colored lights that flashed in time with the music. I'd throw on that record, crank it up, and sit in front of the screen watching the lights flash. Serious entertainment for a young developing brain.

Sparks - The Who
and indeed Rough Mix by Ronnie Lane and Pete Townshend including Charlie is great!

And let's not forget "Shirley" by the first Barbarians at Kilburn, or what shall we call'em.
Maybe it's not an instrumental in the strict sense of the word, but I think Ronnies
use of his voice can't be regarded as vocals in the strict sense of the word either.
