Re: Driving in cemeteries, especially this one...

Have y'all looked at the overhead photo posted above?

I'm no expert but, it looks to me like there are clearly marked parking places inside the cemetery which would, to me anyway, imply that driving inside that cemetery is perfectly acceptable and not all that unusual. My question would be, assuming the location of Brian's grave is approximately where indicated, why did the driver of the car in the picture of Bill choose to park right in the middle of the road instead of a parking place right around the corner?

Peace,
Mr DJA

Maybe this was merely a quick photo session?

Probably cause he had a pass to park on the grounds, Mr dja. My parents are buried is a huge military cemetery that has several parking lots for visitors. if you have a family member there, you get a car pass so you can park on the grounds to visit. It's only good for short time, otherwise you'd get people hanging out all day.

"why did the driver of the car in the picture of Bill choose to park right in the middle of the road instead of a parking place right around the corner?"

WTF?!

It's a random car driving in the background of a picture.
Chill out, Sherlock Holmes.

And how do we know it's parked? Might just be passing by - you don't drive fast in a cemetery.

Lots of people use that car park and you don't need any kind of pass or permission.

I wasn't referring to the parking lots. Okay now I'm seriously laughing...how'd we get off on this tangent about the damn car? Poor Brian, nobody's paying any attention to him again.

Take a picture of yourself standing next to Jones' grave an publish it. How self serving. Can't stand the guy.

I thought the same thing.

A lot of people pose by his grave, now who do we have here...

Presumably the decision to have a grave came from his parents?
Just that most people in the UK opt for a cremation...especially if they have no strong religous affiliations.

Jeez, poor Bill, can't get a break--he didn't even post this picture himself but he's catching all this heat for it, and for a car that clearly has nothing to do with him. It's not like he's using the picture as advertising copy for his latest book or something.

(In response to jlowe, cremation was less popular--if you can call it that grinning smiley --in the 1960s, but either way I'm sure it would have been his parents' decision, as I doubt Brian left any instructions, having died at an age when we all tend to think we're immortal.)

Slow day in Stonesville that there are this many posts about driving vs not driving in a cemetery full of roads?

So the photo was taken by a friend of Bill's or a person who just happened to be there?

As long as they're not disrespecting the grave(s), live and let live.

Who would say no to a pic with Mick/Keith, if it was to be taken in the very same spot?

Why are some of you offended by Bill Wyman? He stopped by Brian's grave. He's not "posing". It's a snapshot.

because bill still has the original sarcastic, say what's on your mind, fck you attitude all the stones once had and in todays world that's rubs alot of people the wrong way.

so when he doesn't get all misty eyed and say how much he still loves the boys, how happy he was to be apart of something so great and he has such fond memories of the past and what a wonderful, magical time it was, that somehow makes him a jerk.

this is what happens when you're on a board where half the people think the rolling stones are a distant second to a fcking boy band that dropped acid, all of a sudden bill wyman is "grumpy" "angry" "a whiner" and a number of other things said by people who never understood even half of what the rolling stones where all about.

a picture of bill wyman standing next to brians grave get's this reaction? you people make me want to vomit.
