The key sentence in the Guardian article is that in spite of all the rough edges, Keith on stage live remains "so magnetic". The presence, the timing and the communication are still rather remarkable.He seems to be reconciled to his obvious technical limitations and does not try to do more than he can - ie he seems to be aware of the risk of humiliating himself and his fans!
Nevertheless He does seem to be exploring what (if anything) he is able to do outside the protective bubble of The Stones.
I agree with GreenLady - it is interesting and enjoyable to watch......

Actually, the closer one is to their natural skin color the safer one is from skin cancer.

They must do something live! Just a concert or two, and release a dvd, because this is one of the best version of Happy.

Yes, well said and perhaps even true in my case, about the devil's advocate part. But my intentions are never to disappoint or reduce someone's enjoyment of something, basically just expressing an (often contrasting) opinion. I think I also try to play that role in a more positive vein and will advocate in a good way for things I feel are being critiqued too negatively. But I hear you Green Lady, perhaps I should temper my comments with more love and understanding.

In Keith's case I truly do love the man dearly, appreciate greatly that he is still getting out there at all and understand some of the factors which can result in a less than stellar performance which are beyond his control, like monitoring, the live feed mix, lack of time to rehearse, etc etc. I admit I prefer any Keith show to the alternative and am glad you enjoyed it so much.

I have great respect for Keith, but I do not see anything great in his performance, yet another version of GS, yet another version of Happy, played with its limitations chronic.

It's the tom stand that gets replaced.
He's using a vintage snare drum stand (1950s-1960s I'd guess from looking at it) which is not the best idea as they are not very strong at all.
You can see it gets replaced for one identical to the one the snare is on, much stronger.

Up until recently I had a 1960's premier kit and it had all the original stands and hardware. I used it all except the snare stand for that exact reason.
I put the tom and the snare on modern heavy duty stands.

Didn't something similar happen at that 1992 Koln concert?
At the Boston 93 show he fell off his stool but that was from laughing at Keith :E

Aside from a really wonky solo at the end of Gimme Shelter, that was a really solid effort. Not sure why people are giving Keith a hard time over it.

Without any solid sources cited, I've heard various mumblings about a possible string of shows.
Could be just wishful thinking (as most of us are), but it sounded realistic enough to make me share here, and I'm not one to start and/or spread rumors.
I'm skeptical, but still hopefull...

Keith's rocking finale that ended the show was much different in style and tone from everything that was performed earlier.

Have to agree with you bobo.
Bernard Fowler may be an adequate backup singer, and he might be okay singing his solo stuff (I've never heard any of it), but him singing lead was uhhh....lets just say it was 'wonky'.

Hoping for more shows from Keith!

Do not get me wrong, I love Keith and I'm happy for his good form, but when the Stones are on tour you Mick criticism for choosing the songs, here Keith could choose to do what he wanted and repurposed pieces such as GS and Happy, not novelty, but if it does Keith okay ....

I'm not crazy about the playing but Keith looks radiant in those pictures and videos. I agree about Bernard. He totally did not fit in and really, really made me miss Mick - or Keith - doing that verse. Or even Waddy. I've never seen him solo and I'm sure he's great but not here. I so hope Keith gets it together for one more solo tour, if he feels up to it.
