Keith bought vintage 1958 National Baron guitar in AUS

This is not a new story but in the recent Keith documentary on Netflix, Keith requests that Pierre have the same guitar restored.

This is the guitar he purchased from Deniz Tek of Radio Birdman.

Radio Birdman is well known across Australia UK & Europe (not so much US)

Deniz's story on selling the guitar, and hanging out with Keith, Mick Taylor and Bobby Keyes is in the link below. Deniz has retold the story in light seeing his old guitar in the documentary.

Great article! There's a moral here for guitar players who take their time testing out new axes in music shops: next time you've been trying out a guitar for several hours and the sales guy is eyeballing you to either buy it or leave, remember that Keith's got your back (and will use the blade if necessary)

Unbelievably cool story. But I couldn't help wondering about the movies Mick was showing in his suite...

LOL. The guitars usually tell me they're mine pretty quickly. If I don't buy 'em right away they tend to haunt my dreams until I can get back and close the deal.

Indeed a cool story. Someday it would be great to have Keith and Pierre go through the catalog and warehouse of Keith's guitars and discuss the history and stories behind them all.

That is such a great story...but that link to his buying Fred Smith's guitar was really something. I LOVE Radio Birdman (what an outstanding live band even now) but never knew he was playing with Fred's guitar. I saw him with the MC5 too...wish I had known the history of that guitar then.

Sure hope Birdman comes back to the States.

This story confirms my experience on how approachable the Stones were in the late 1960s and the 1970s. I, like anyone else, put them on a pedestal and figured they were protected by layers of people who were paid to insulate them from the rest of us. Perhaps they were, but when I was able, through circumstances and no particular charm or appeal of my own, was able to get past the layers, the band members were very nice people. Great story.
