Not many on these lists I would disagree with...but no Hendrix?

Axis Bold As Love I feel should be included.

Kind of Love - Miles Davis also deserves it's place, although not everybody's cup of tea.

NOW That’s What I Call Music

Funny, under. My girls got everyone of them for a while in the early 00's. I didn't know anyone but kids that bought them. I guess now they have some nostalgia value.

Doors: the Doors.

Id like to say La Woman but not every song on it. Almost.
Morrisson Hotel almost.

Hendrix: Axix probably although Id pick Are you Experienced. Or Electric Ladyland. Leave out Rainy day.

We've been debating the last classic Stones album, and someone made the comment that a classic album requires every song on the album be a classic. I tend to disagree...

...but it raises a question that I don't know has been debated here: albums from the rock'n'roll era where EVERY song is a classic/masterpiece.

I'll start off with a couple of ideas:

Springsteen - Born to Run
Stones - Sticky Fingers

Beggars
Exile
Let It Bleed
Some Girls
Sticky Fingers
Tattoo You
Aftermath
Clash - first three albums
Could never figure out the attraction of the clash ----

Bob Seger´s Night Moves.
Although I am not really quite sure the songs are all masterpieces, maybe they are just very good songs... But what I know is that I like the album a lot.

Bob Seger rules!! A great album - Not sure if "Roll Me Away" resides on that particular album.

Night Moves is a great choice, as would be Live Bullet.

Roll Me Away is on The Distance.

Also, as someone previously mentioned, Skynyrd's Street Survivors.

"No Anchovies, Please"

The Cult's ELECTRIC minus Born To Be Wild, which, although I can't stand it, does fit the record.

Yes in its context because it anchors the album back in the style of music that dominated when Jimi first came to the UK. I always found it as an intentional throw back to be juxtaposed with all the super creative stuff he was doing. Helps ground the album. Axis Bold as Love is my favorite Jimi album.

I can't think of any album by any artist where I don't have the feeling that at least one song is skip-worthy or a least I think that one song is weaker than the rest.

Masterpiece is a big word, you know.

Re: Albums where EVERY song is a masterpiece

It has already veered off into a different thread: where people are basically citing classic, "perfect" albums. Where each and every song contributes to the total works' perfection. But each song, taken on its own might not be a classic.
"Turd on the Run" is part of Exile's perfection; on its own it is a little 2 minute boogie. "Im Not Down" is a straight up rocker but it is a link in "London Calling" perfection.
I can't really think of an album, except for Big Hits, where every track is a classic. Actually I strongly believe that in order for an album to be "classic" one should NOT try and have every song be priceless jewel. Sequencing is vital, and balance. Exile needs Side 3, London Calling needs Side 3, Physical Graffiti needs Side 4.
"Sticky Fingers" comes close, but even there the stones knew instinctively that a "You Gotta Move" moment was needed.
One could go on and on. I LOVE topics like this.

It's really hard to decide if certain albums have ONLY masterpieces on them. Exile? Not sure. The album may be the greatest ever made by anybody, but I'm not sure if Ventilator Blues, Turd on the Run or Soul Survivor qualify as masterpieces. Pretty much the same with Beggars Banquet -- perhaps my favourite Stones album, but are Factory Girl, Dear Doctor or Salt of the Earth masterpieces? Let It Bleed is almost the opposite -- I think Banquet is a better album but Bleed has pretty much only masterpieces on it. At least as far as songwriting goes -- there are a bunch of songs (Rambler, Live With Me, Love In Vain) that sounded better on Ya-Ya's, for example. Don't know if this makes sense at all...

Salt of the Earth IS unquestionably a masterpiece. STAGGERING song.
