Here we go again, Toronto rehearsals, Toronto warm-up gig, then into the Tour....can the Stones do something different for a change?

I dare say this will be Licks Tour version #2.....yaaawwwwnnnnn

If they feel good in Toronto, than why should they rehearse somewhere else?

Since Steel Wheels the tours were all kinda simular but never a copy.

A big difference is that they now tour with a new album so new songs on stage. With Licks we only saw one new song.

dont fix it if its not broken and rakes in $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ right down
to keith throwing out his pick to the crowd after each song.

It's all okay with me...even with a Live Licks 2 CD at the end of the road. Just nice to know that the Stones are still playing and still making a difference.

I'd like 'em to kick out Lisa, Bernard etc and replace them with Keith's and Mick's daughters. I bet that would make the shows hotter than damn hell. Keep Chuck and Bobby though, but fire the rest of the superfluous back-up people.

Don't think that Keith's daughters are able to screem their asses of in Gimme Shelter as Lisa can...
Besides that I don't mind looking at a sexy lady on stage>>

If you don't like The STONES why are you on a FAN BOARD!?! Everytime I read something like this I get angry at the people who post nothing good about the band. Maybe you should go to the Mariah Carey fan board, or BackStreet Boys. maybe that is the type of music you like. Nothing too complicated.

The Stones are an amazing band to watch,and listen to. If you've ever seen a show, you'd know that by now. I've been going to their shows since 1975, and each tour they get MORE AMAZING!!

I doubt it! According to your post, you don't appear to be a very vibrant, or excitable individual. Kinda sad really, when people can only complain about a band who has stood the test of time, and only CONTINUE TO GET BETTER...

Mickshick, I'm 100% with you. I'm in Toronto (unfortunately not in line at the Phoenix, got this little thing called a job) and there's always tons of excitement at this time prior to every tour. I don't even bother with jerks like Esky. Its a great time to be a fan and look forward to the shows.

p.s. I saw Dylan at the Phoenix in 2004 and the folks at the show are in for a treat tonight. It's very small, kind of like a gymnasium and holds only a thousand or so. The stage is quite elevated unlike the Palais Royale so everyone will have a great view. It'll be hot in there and the band will be rockin. I hope the Stones play some of the newer tunes for the fans tonight, they deserve it.

Let's just say that I'd be disappointed if I travelled 10000kms and paid heaps of $$$$$ to see the Stones this Tour only to see another rendition of the Licks Tour with a few new songs....

Great band....great songs...great shows...great fans.

Just waiting for summer '06, for the Euro dates to roll along.

Esky is a long-term fan. It's the longer-term fans who are usually harder to please.

It's understandable not to get too excited when they are doing the same routine with the same band as last time. Hard to see how it will be that different.

What's new? A few songs and some higher prices! Probably still worth it though.

I don't understand, we're getting a new album, and yes you're right they'll play few of the new tracks at the show, but of course we're also going to get a re-visit from their previous works (licks included). Christ, what would you have them do? Re-invent their entire catalog? How about they do a special one-time gig just for you where you can see the "Rolling Stones-cabaret" or the how about the "Rolling Stones as the BeeGees for a night with special guest ESKY!" Or even better "The Rolling Stones - Elvis tribute tour with a limited engagement in Esky's backyard"??

The point is (and you know this), They are the Stones, they set the bar, we all know the warhorses (and of course many of the rareties) and that's what we love and that's why we pay the coin to see them. Enjoy it man, they won't be doing this forever!

I am a fan since 73 and I am not hard to please in all these years I saw a lot of concerts and only the 1st concert Cologne 81 and the Stuttgart 99 didn't match to me. In 99 I just did not feel the spirit and in 81 I was spoiled before in Frankfurt.
For me it is the pure exceitement when they are on stage.

Hi Rockingfan,
isn`t it funny....the 81 Cologne concert you mentioned was in July 82, to be exactly..it was the first Rolling Stones show of my life....and I was totaly thrilled by it, of course.
The 99 Stuttgart show to me was one of the best Stones gigs I have ever been to.
that`s how things can vary from one to next. ( sorry about my poor english)

The Stones are a fluid corporation. When they are in working mode they are headquartered in Toronto. Thats where they "make the product" which they then go out and sell.

As for this being Licks 2 it would appear the staging is going to be a lot more elaborate PLUS we have a new album generating headlines a month before release.

Obvious differences unless Esky's point is merely to stir people up (as I imagine it to be).

So what if they want to use the same city for rehearsals? And why are you afraid of a nes Licks tour? I saw three shows in New York in one week and I got 47 different songs! What other bands do that?

I've seen them since '82, and they have played about 120 different songs for me!

And look at the stages: The diffence between the "Tattoo-stage", Steel Wheels, Urban Jungle, Woodoo lounge, Bridges to Babylon and the Licks tour are quite impressive to me.

Except for the Licks tour, they always play a huge amount of songs from their new albums. This alone shows that the band is still a living band, not only a touring old circus.

And by the way, on the Licks tour they played a lot of oldies and obscure stuff that they never did before. GREAT GREAT GREAT for all the fans who really know their cataloge.

I'm with Esky on this one and I think those of you who are slagging him have missed his point. Just because one criticizes them doesn't mean one is not a fan. The Stones have been doing slight variations of the same tour for many years now and it would be nice to see them change things abit. Different or fewer backing musicians would be a start plus more unplayed songs from their catalog would be most welcome as well. As it is, they have been playing it safe and not taking any chances for some time now.

Look behind the stage set and all the production and Chuck Leavell carrying the
band. Its the same canned arrangements ,thank god for jagger and watts putting
out each night. The guitars Don,t Move Me Anymore.

At best since 1981 they had slashing and weaving guitars now they have become
muted rhythms and a riff thrown in and out

The "weave" is becoming unraveled. Keith could carry the band as he has done in the past if he wanted to. God knows why he passed the reins.

Well it`s hard to say, but i`m agree with you OPenG, but for the last 5 tours i hear them playing more different numbers than they used to do.

Theres only one big yawwwnnn here & aint The Stones - get a grip pal & for gods sake have a bit of enthusiasm.
