The correct version or the one with switched channels?

Finally finished Leeds. It's great. Definitely better than Hampton/Let's Spend the Night Together. My esteem of the 81/82 tour has gone up.

Hoping to get it today in the local shops today. Really pissed off with uk amazon, who normally are very good.

I like the shots of STU and Chuck Leavell playing together on one keyboard a lot. Especially because this came to be STU's last show with HIS band.

No, I was referring to most new (Japanese version) cd releases in general. Sorry for the confusion.

Agreed, these pro shots have really increased my love of those years. Hampton was wonderful, and after just watching Leeds, I honestly think its even better!

What a show; the band sound so good, the show is filled with highlights. The last 30 or so minutes is thrilling; the energy, the playing; very entertaining. Cant wait to view again!

The video shots are all really close and up front. We get to see faces all of the time. Lots of Bill staring into the void.smiling smiley
Sound on the previous Tokyo release was definitely better.
And indeed, this is not a repeat of Hampton. Sound and feel is very different here.

The bluray image is 4:3 but wonderfully sharp, much better than the other 4:3 video images we had before.
The sax player Gene Barge is on fire.

I guess we have different definitions of what wonderfully sharp is.
Something annoying is the animated crossovers which appears when they change to a new camera angle on some songs.

Roundhay/Leeds is probably the worst filmed and directed vault released so far.
It's all mostly close ups. Hardly any open shots. Nice sound, but terribly directed film.

Leeds wasn't filmed for release I heard. The close-ups are because this was the video feed for the screens at the concert.

I wish it had wider shots myself. It was a beautiful stage, and you don't get any perspective when Mick is out on the side ramps.

Thanks, that clarifies the reason for the close ups.

None of the Best Buy stores in Atlanta seem to have this yet. Anyone else having trouble finding it?

Ross

Best Buy has become a joke when it comes to new releases on release day.

Pimple-faced Geek-Squad boy with girly accent: "We have a display just for that release that I haven't got around to putting up yet...let me check in the back for the [INSERT NEW RELEASE HERE]...nope nothing back there, can you check back tomorrow or we can order it for you".

Stick with Amazon it'll be in yer box the day it comes out.

I've found the last 2 releases at Barnes and Noble on release day.

I noticed a lot more between song banter on this one than any of the US '81 shows.

I agree there are too many close-ups.
We cannot see guitars and players’ fingers. It’s a shame.
Anyway the Stones are great. Bill is cool and smiling and he is seen as much as Keith.

Anybody else notice that Jagger adopts a more "Mockney" accent on the Leeds discs as opposed to the "Shamerican" one he uses at Hampton?

If that in fact is normal I'm dying to hear the Cuba show.

Indeed, he does. It takes him a couple of lines, but I think at the third phrase or so he utters he's there with what probably is supposed to sound like working class UK folks.
Notice him frantically looking at the teleprompter as well?

For all the people who complain about Jagger getting too much camera attention need to watch this show. I know this was taken from the video screen feed but not having the camera on Jagger 75-80% of the time made this release aggravating. Jagger IS the show. Close-ups of Gene Barge(which seemed endless) while Jagger was running around getting the crowd fired up was criminal. This show is similar to Ladies and Gentlemen where the camera leaves the audience almost completely out. This show was incredible but watching it was rough.

Leeds really cheered me up, the band was on top form and Keith was on fire, it must have been a great day. It lacks the continuity of the performance as a whole being taken from the video screen feed, but unfortunately it cannot be helped. I have really enjoyed the vault series so far with Hampton being my favourite and Tokyo my least favourite. Tokyo is a very solid performance and the band is on great form, but it lacks that je he sais quoi. Looking forward to the next releasesmileys with beer

Isn't it Ernie Watts? Haven't seen this yet though, I'm just going from memory.
