Steel Wheels and Some Girls did not see him doing any cheesy ballads, because there aren´t any ballads.

Beast Of Burden and Almost Hear You Cry are ballads.

Black And Blue got he awful Fool To Cry though...

You love DIRTY WORK.

All of his ballads on VL, B2B, ABB aren´t worth listening. His last great ballad with the Stones was Memory Motel.

Out Of Tears and Laugh, I Almost Died, "his last great ballad", are "worth listening" to.

Laugh I Nearly Die, Almost Hear You Sigh & Beast Of Burden are not really ballads to the ear of your humble servant. Possibly you are right once again but I do not think of them as ballads.

Laugh -> 7
Almost Hear You Sigh -> 2
Beast Of Burden -> 10

Out Of Tears (yes, that´s a ballad indeed) is horrible. I often tried but never managed to listen to it from start to finish for the last 15 years. It´s torture.

Out Of Tears -> 0

What do you think of Streets Of Love. I think Out Of Tears is a better ballad.

Out Of Tears -> 6,5
Already Over Me -> 7
Almost Hear You Sigh -> 7,5
Laugh I Nearly Died -> 8 (Would be a Killer played live)
Streets Of Love -> 6 (Live 8)

AWRIGHT !!!

ENOUGH!
LET'S GET SOME BLUES INTO THIS THREAD!!!

Which BLUEScovers will be on THE NEW ALBUM???

No.
We already got a great version of Worried Life Blues from the Boogie 4 STU album with Keith, Ronnie and Charlie.

Same goes for Still A Fool. Great version sung by Keith on Hubert Sumlin's album.

I'd like Dust My Broom.

Would be appropriate too. They did it at The Marquee 1962 first show...

youtu.be/YSqj9hlG9t4 (link not working): Mick guests on Dust My Broom in Mustique 2005 with local band. Great!!!

Edit:

Dust My Broom
Drop Down Mama (rehearsed for the Beacon Theatre shows in NYC 2006)
Blues With A Feeling (done in 1978, RCA studios)
My Last Plea (KR vocals 1978 RCA studios)
I Ain't Superstitious

Rock Me Baby
Going Down
Champagne & Reefer

"Leave My ... Alone" (from 4 Flicks docu, 2002 Licks Sessions)

- Why not cover on a NEW BLUEScoveralbum:
Down In The Hole
Keep Up Blues
Black Limousine (acoustic)
CockSukker Blues(1978 rehearsal version as a guide...)

If they could make something in the vicinty of this a blues cover album would be most welcome. Mud Morganfield (Muddy's son), Bob Margolin and James Cotton on this one from 2012: [www.youtube.com]
And here is the original from 1965 (live): [www.youtube.com]

Nobody fookin' knows! Otherwise there'd be talk about the new album - which doesn't even have a fookin' release date! For all we know, it ain't gonna fookin' happen!

Hence HMS talking about ballads not being ballads even though they are and etc.

Yes, lets. Or an ABBA cover album. "Does You Mother Know" has a definite I/IV chord sequence that begs to be played in open G.

I wait something will come out! I would be happy with a blues cover album . Are the Rolling Stones, and an album of covers blues would be nice because they can afford to do so.
I also expect the album of unreleased, I'm curious, and every time I buy a new album are excited, they have never disappointed me.

Nor me .

So long as they sound like the Rolling Stones I'm not really bothered what's on it.

Nobody expects another Exile but even if the new album is not a "masterpiece" there are certain things that always make me happy. They are - the sound of Keith's guitar along with the drumming style of Charlie and the sound of Mick's voice. Anything that includes those elements will be a treat of some kind.

I sure do hope that it´s NOT going to be another Exile. For years and years I am longing for a new Stones-album without fillers or songs I do not like. Last album I liked from start to finish was DW.

It's not looking good,this covers album looks more like a way to put something out without forcing Mick and Keith to sit in a room together rather than a true musical venture.

I was reading different things, looking for a little information on a possible full scale tour awhile back and i found a story about the run up to 50 and counting -they said"we'll know more later,they just have to figure out how many lawyers it takes to get Jagger and Richards in a room together"

I really don't think that's something you're gonna have to worry about,

in fact i'm 100% sure of it.

Preferably blues covers / songs that have not yet been played officially by Stones. If not, there is nothing new about the album, just a repeat of old stuff....

I certainly don't expect another EXILE but if it's a pile of dog shit like DIRTY WORK, which fortunately it won't be since nobody can be that bad again, it would be an atrostic end to their career.

Songs HMS does not like. Yet... DIRTY WORK is great.

Uh huh. Illogic as usual.

I wonder if they have been working on or if perhaps they actually completed the new 'studio' album (not The Blues album .. but the new studio album of original material?)

There will be no fall tour .. Fall is in three short weeks .. We would of had official word .. and tickets would be going on sale within a few weeks .. there is none. I have absolutely no idea where this Vegas show fits in or what it's purpose is.
