It may not be "too late" to have something ready for the fall but the "concern" is that there aren't many indications that they put much heart/effort into that album, even less than for ABB where Mick and Keith at least spent some time together at Mick's Fourchette mansion. It seems to be very much in line with what they did for the two Grrrr...songs and at the end of the day it didn't work out too bad, so why not.

Without other writers (don't think anyone wants that) or musicians (I for one miss all the nice "outside" parts from B2B ) spending months on it isn't going to change much anyway. What's a bit sad is that they wouldn't want their current material to benefit from outside input to get the best out of it, something that Macca did (mostly) successfully for "New". It's not like they can't afford it, so why ? Too "cheap", too much of a hassle, still like to think they can wing it like in Villefranche ?

PS - yes, sorry I did mean Xeyed.

These guys are in top form and won't disappoint. I have to attribute the recent negativity to lack of solid information. What time constraints? Mick (and hopefully Keith) are spending a lot more time on the album than we give them credit for. They won't let this opportunity just slip thrum their fingers

encouraged by photos of Keith at piano and on base...if they allowed Ronnie to bring some funk..back.....they could be on to something...high hopes.

Those pics were most likely recording / guesting on Cheryl Crows next album. Still ... I'm certain Keith hasn't forgotten how to play those instruments.

However keep in mind.. Ronnie wasn't present in the writing process nearly as much during the making of A Bigger Bang (just on overdubs playing his parts was the better part of his gig on that album). However A Bigger Bang actually has a decent amount of funk .. It is sort of a Rock, >>Funk (and blues) based album.

Dangerous Beauty, Sweet Neocon, Driving Too Fast, Rain Fall Down

All of the above are actually funk based .. though most of the above may on the surface sound or seem very 'rock' oriented.. their base and chords is actually quite funk.

Even 'Look What The Cat Dragged In' and 'Infamy' have a 'slight' .. (in spots) Funk groove to them.

It is a bit of an overlooked fact but A Bigger Bang had a nice share of funk incorporated into the album when you stop and think about it.

Ronnie did not play at all on nearly half of the ABB album. Maybe he was in rehab at that time to be fit for the tour at least?

Why? Keith and Ronnie both lost their bass mojo a LONG time ago. Bass is now the least appealing part of the Rolling Stones sound, with piano right behind.

Keith played a ton of bass on CH. And his little piano flourishes were sweet also.

It looks like Mick was in NY earlier this month:

"It seemed just like any other mellow night at the bar until the actor Steve Buscemi walked in and retired to a booth in the back. Buscemi had all the patrons asking,”Is that who I think it is?” and twisting their necks to see him.

For many bars the visit of one celebrity would be enough excitement for the whole year, but an even bigger shock was in store for patrons the very next night. Mick Jagger of Rolling Stones fame strutted into the Safehouse and sat at the very same booth, escorted by his granddaughter. Buscemi’s visit was quickly forgotten. Mick had a quiet drink and left, but apparently this was one time when he actually did get some satisfaction. The seat that held up those two very famous butts has been renamed the Buscemi/Jagger booth, and Stones groupies and Buscemi fans have started planning Greenpoint visits just to sit in the now legendary spot."

Yes, and he was in Cuba back in 2015! Remeber all that hubbub? Wouldn't surprise me if he's planning some U.S. dates.

So, if/when we get an album, if it's around the time of Vegas, do you reckon they'll play new tunes, or stick to playing a Greatest "greatest hits show"?

Yes, of course they are playing their Greatest Hits. And if we are lucky they will play one new song.

Ofcourse they will do the whole new album two times around. Once at the mainstage, and the day before a club show. There they will do The entire Tattoo You, And the new album, for a few selected fans.

And if it sux, HMS will declare it The Stones second best album, behind their true masterpiece, Dirty Work. Much better than the "overrated" Exile On Main Street that had all of that "haughty" guitar playing from that "haughty" Mick Taylor, whose "haughtiness" ruined that album with so much "haughty" playing. "Haughty".

I wish The Glimmers would let their former haughty guitar player, and their former bass player as well, come in and assist Ronnie in putting in the extra effort and inspiration they may no longer have....

Not too sure about the Glimmer´s solo-work, but better than MT´s & BW´s stuff at any rate.

Of course I remember that. I just posted what I read on that website because the Sun (yes, I know they're not really reliable) reported that the band could be recording in London after the birth of Ronnie's twins, but actually it seems that Mick was spotted in that NY restaurant in late May, not early June.
