What an utter disgrace. Fallon couldn't stop babbling long enough to let Keith say more than three straight words and then it was over. Just terrible. Even Keith seemed disappointed, but was too cool to let it show.
That's what made Johnny Carson so great all those years ago on the Tonight Show. He understood who the real star was - and it wasn't him - and he just shut the hell up and got out of the way.

Jimmy probably would have talked less if Keith had intended to play anything.

I know he's a legend... But I don't need to hear Keith talking again. Already heard his stories. Like Gus & young Keith, American music influenes, etc.

BUT... I really do like CROSSEYED HEART

It was somewhat disappointing. Very brief.

Exactly, I have heard Carson's interview style described exactly this way many times.

It wasn't great but you've got to admit, not many of these interviews have turned into golden opportunities to get any more out of Keith than the same old anecdotes and stories. This is getting so boring and predictable I just wish someone would start a thread about "new" things Keith says so I wouldn't have to read the same old rehashed stuff again and again and again. smoking smiley

Keith got off some good lines: "Yeah, I got it", in response when Jimmy noted Keith's fumbling with his jacket button and finally undid it and Jimmy said "You got it!" And "Actually it was a ploy" (referring to Steve Jordan's statements that Keith was talking about retiring), "I mention retiring and guys start coming out of the woodwork!" His response to "which finger was infected?" was a first, for me at least. Talking about letting his grandkids play with his guitars, as his grandfather did him, "I've got more than one (guitar). The clip from the documentary was nice. He was alert, looks amazing, and obviously in good spirits.

Fallon's a terrible interviewer because he always comes across as a fanboy more than anything else. Ironically, this is also the secret to his success as he understands what kind of sketch will tap into a youthful audience and go viral.

But let's not kid ourselves here- Keith clearly likes going on Fallon's show and doesn't mind his softball interview style. (Apparently Keith genuinely likes Fallon in real life too as he was allowed to sit in on the recording of Goodnight Irene!)

Keith, the old pro, regardless of his personal feelings about Fallon, uses the highest rated venue to get some pub for the new release. Done it a thousand times.

I was hoping Keith would have played a number. That's the best way to promote a new album. I'd have thought he'd be more comfortable performing than talking. Makes me think he may not tour for Crosseyed Heart. The segment was disappointing, but I loved that he got a standing O.

Not very interesting interview, but Keith looked pretty good.
Wish he would have played something - even a short little ditty on acoustic while sitting on the couch.
Or even at least a musical comedy routine/collaboration w/Fallon.
It was similar to watching a football game, and the star captain of the team was benched the entire game.
Probably left many casual viewers wondering what the hell why this guys supposedly a musical legend and no music?
In all fairness, when Mick was on Fallon I don't think he performed either - just a lame skit and/or comedy/video?

But now Keith is 0 for 2 on Fallon"...as the old Burger King lady used to say 'Where's the beef"?, or in this case "where's the Keef"?!!!

That was Wendy's, my man

*edit: Make that 0 for 3 if you count Keith's first appearance when Fallon hosted the Late Show.

Yeah, when's the last time you saw someone who didn't play a song from a new record on that show when trying to promote it? Considering that's standard practice and Keith is such a "bands not a real band unless they play live songs" kind of guy, I don't think this bodes well for the possibility of of any live performances of CEH, unfortunately.

Regardless, there's still hope! thumbs up
May or may not happen, but it would be nice.
And if not, oh well...we still have a stellar document via the album which is better than nothing at all.
Positive vibrations towards Keith! smoking smiley

Those interviews are rarely any good, just 5-10 minutes crap talk.

The reason they survive is good PR for the artists and the audience wanting to see famous people. It is not for the content of the interview.....

yeah. keith is getting some vinyl into his look.

just kidding -that jacket is badass,it's a python skin that runs about $3,500 to $4,500, actually cheap considering some of the black exotic skins he was wearing around the late bridges/no security era were about $10,000 to $12,000 each.
alot of the little keith wannabes running around here will be tracking down and wearing some really funny pleather versions of that thing any day now.

Yeah, that seemed a little odd for someone who is clearly a fan not only of Keith, but of the the Stones in general.

Fallon admitted a similar sin a few months ago that, given your username, you might enjoy: When talking about Fury Road (maybe it was a show when Charlize Theron was on?), he said he had never seen any of the original Mad Max films. Again, since Fallon prides himself on being so well-versed in pop culture of the 70's and 80's, that was a little hard to believe.

The first time Jimmy interviewed Keith it went well. But this time it was not great. Jimmy is responsible for creating the mood for the conversation, especially with a guest like Keith who isn't trying to take over. What Jimmy creates is most of the time very silly which in itself isn't bad but after 3 times of having Keith, silly turned into stupid which isn't good. Very disappointing but the record is good and that's what matters.
Rock and roll,
Mops

I didn't like the promotion for this album, no video on youtube (the only one is an audio only video and sounds terrible), no live performance, only boring interviews that no one cares.

The only way to sell an album nowadays is:

1- A Good Youtube Video
2- 2 or 3 singles to different radio formats
3- Various TV appearances with live performances

Crosseyed Heart didn't get any of these, so in two weeks time the album will fall off the Top 100 chart.

I'm sorry to say that i have to agree with you George, its very disappointing considering its such a good album. Keith just ducked any chance to play some of it live to anyone. I also kept thinking when are they going to put a decent recording of trouble on you tube, but it never happened.
