Indian Girl is an embarrassment

Sometimes opinions on certain things can change over the years, and maybe a re-evaluation can help.
But I stand by this opinion that I posted back in Dec., 2015, and in the recently resurrected Send it To Me thread I posted nearly the same thing just the other day - it's good to be consistent!

Not a bad album

Dance (Pt. 1) - thumbs up
Summer Romance - thumbs up
Send It to Me - angry smiley
Let Me Go - thumbs up
Indian Girl - angry smiley
Where the Boys Go - thumbs up
Down in the Hole - thumbs up
Emotional Rescue - angry smiley
She's So Cold - thumbs up
All About You - thumbs up

Not sure about the use of the hateful meany faces though haha....

Absolute favorites are Dance (including all the various versions), Summer Romance, Let Me Go, and Down in the Hole.
All in all, not a bad album at all...in fact I would leap with joy if they released a new album of this caliber today! hot smiley

New evaluation using the 1-10 number system with 10 being best, although I can't give any of these tunes an absolute 10 in the context of the Stones' greatest:

Dance (Pt. 1) - 9
Summer Romance - 9
Send It to Me - 3
Let Me Go - 9
Indian Girl - 2
Where the Boys Go - 5
Down in the Hole - 9
Emotional Rescue - 1
She's So Cold - 7
All About You - 7

I have always had a soft spot for Send it to me - the start is so great, and it's their best reggae-attempt. And MJ is in fantastic voice, and I like the could be the alien-part it's silly, but funny.
I have grown to like Indian girl too - and to dislike Down in the hole (which was a favourite of mine when ER was published).
All about you has always been a track to skip. Unfortunately KR chose this Tom Waits-inspired route for most of the following vocal contributions on RS albums.
The titel-track is a magnificent oddity, was bewildered at first, but have loved it since I heard it the second time.

I disagree with Hairball, but is as consistent with my review from 2015 as Hairball grinning smiley

The first Stones record I chose not to buy the it came out, and never have since. Although I thought the title song was interesting and unique, the writing, in general, was really weak. Indian Girl may be the worst Stones song ever. Where The Boys Go just a bad attempt at sounding 'punk', then the lame popiness of the girls vocal coming in is just embarrassingly bad. Many of the tracks sound like they were leftovers, too weak to make the Some Girls record. Maybe the band was in a downward spiral of creativity and got lazy?

Down In The Hole is the one good/great track. It still sounds good today. The title song, unique. But zero other reasons to bother buying or listening to.

Does anyone actually go through the other posters' rankings and think 'mmm, 8 for DINH, ok, 7 for ER' etc?

No,but I realized that more than I thought like Indian Girl.
Interesting...nevertheless I think it's one if not the most horrible song ever recorded by them.

Yes - interesting to see what others deem worthy or not.
Evidence that everyone has differing opinions - one mans junk is another mans treasure. thumbs up

She's So Cold is excellent. All About You is excellent. Summer Romance. Dance.

Indian Girl being the worst Stones song ever is a bit rich considering some of the rotten eggs they've laid starting in 1986 through 2005. Indian Girl is genius compared to some of what they've done since 1980.

....coming off the heels of Some Girls had a lot to do with it. In retrospect a lazy follow-up.
