i've stopped being so interested in keith interviews ever since he published "life," which i highly recommend.. i mean, seriously, he put it all down into a book. hard to expect him to have much more interesting to add.
the situation is totally different with someone like mccartney or jagger who will never write books and all we have are their interviews.
i'd love it if mick did some more revealing interviews, but it's never going to happen.

the problem is he's always been a rockstar wannabe himself and at some point will make a legend look stupid to cut them down to size,he's really good at it and he can't help himself.

It would be great if Howard got Mick and Keith together and asked these questions: 1) Is inspiration always required to write a song? When you don't have the luxury of waiting for inspiration, then how do you "summon" a song? 2) "The idea makes the song". What universal ideas in songwriting work best for you and why? 3) When you are out in the world and listening to people's conversations and observing them, what qualities about them or their life compel you to write a story? What do you listen for? 4) How do you conceive a memorable title? When you're collecting ideas, how do you reduce them to a single unifying theme?

Well, the Barry Miles book Many Years From Now is as good a bio (part autobio, too) of McCartney and the 1960s as you're gonna get. Someone on this board wrote that Life was a good read until Keith baecame a junkie, after that, it's boring. I think that's true.

Surely Keith wouldn't need to go on the show anyway - seems there's more than enough of a PR push for his new record.
If he did though, he'd certainly be able to handle himself with Stern wouldn't he? He's had 50 years of learning how to deal with the media after all. Maybe Stern is unusually probing and direct but Keith always seems to give as good as he gets, if not more so.
If Ronnie went on the show though - now that could be messy...

Howard Stern and his ilk are what ruined radio.

Howard Stern in 2015 is much different than vintage 1995 Stern...and in many ways, for the worse. The wild, unpredictable personalities that made Stern so compelling are gone (Artie, Jackie) and in place is a stale, overly-safe snoozefest.
However, he remains a great interviewer. It would be a hoot to hear a mature, starsruck Stern interview Keith.
I think it's pathetic that none of the Stones have been on the HSS. If Paul McCartney, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend can all hang with Howard, then so could Mick and Keith.

I would be surprised if Keith Richards would have anything to do with Howard Stern.

no,no and no-and this is from someone who has listened to howard almost every day for years.
howard has a great way of drawing people out and getting them to reveal things about themselves that others can't.
the problem is he's always been a rockstar wannabe himself and at some point will make a legend look stupid to cut them down to size,he's really good at it and he can't help himself.
he figures you're probably never coming back anyway so what the hell.his bottom line is making his audience laugh at all cost and your 50 years of cool is gonna get flushed down the toilet, and trust me,he will find a way.
howard fans to this day laugh at mccartney."and then i heard an owl,hoo hoo "
i dont even like the beatles and i still cringe just thinking about it.
Howard is NOT out to humiliate Keith Richards, just like he didn't humiliate Paul McCartney.Quote

Why? Why would anyone go on a show that is going to ask all kinds of questions about your personal life?

I am unfamiliar with the Stern/Macca thing. Can you give some details?

Your summary of Howard is spot on, but when he gets a guest that he's a fanboy of, he gets nervous and approaches ass-kissing. Nothing wrong with that, but he would need to snap out of it and just have a conversation. He would probably not be able to do it, and the interview would suffer, just my opinion. Still, I say YES, as I'd love him to prove me wrong. He's capable, if he does his homework and weeds out the questions that have been asked a million times.

Same reason they go on any show...PR of course. Reaching Howard's million+ listeners. They usually always have a record/tour/book to promote.

i aplogize in advance if your post was a joke but-
what planet are you living on and how is the weather there?
pete townshend-
howard had already begun talking about the kiddy porn thing before pete got there.townshend had been listening to the show in the car and in a panic had the driver turn the car around and didnt show up,literally running for his life.the cast on the show had a blast with that one as you could imagine.
paul maccartney-
the first time paul was on, howard zoomed in on the dead wife-"you were faithfull to linda right? "of course, yeah" "what was it like the first time you had sex with another woman after all those years?
[now i'm waking up to this, laying in bed and i'm saying noooo! and i dont even like the friggin beatles]
but paul bites the hook-he starts in telling this story about being with a chick for the first time after the wife died.
"and i'm wondering ,should i be doing this[he then has a moment of clarity and he says my kids are gonna kill me for telling this story but sadly...he continues]
so i;m there and i hear this owl off in the distance and it's going hooo hoo and i think, that must be linda telling me it's alright"
[i just put my pillow over my head because well, sometimes cringing isnt enough]
afterwards howard and robin almost seemd a little sad at what they'd done, they made one of their heroes look like a nutjob in a really big way in front of 30 million listeners.

mick taylor-taylor was mocked and humiliated for an entire show for leaving the stones.asked multiple rude questions and never returned.
don felder-talked into making derogatory comments about the other eagles that pretty much assured him of never playing with them again.
joe walsh-same as felder but they actually got walsh kicked out of the band at one point for the shit they got him to say.
roger waters-waters is a personal friend of howards who lives near him in the hamptons.he got the kid glove treatment.
roger daltrey-roger has been on the show many times and does pretty good despite confessing to having an open marriage and masturbating regularly.
do you really want keith in the middle of this trainwreck?cause sometimes it gets quite the tenses.

This doesn't surprise me. I have always been amazed at how the members of the Beatles will answer ever question asked of them and were always willing to talk way too much. They never left anything to the imagination. I always said you could go up to one of them and ask them when the least time they took a dump or had sex and they would answer. This kind of proves that. I remember when Harrison died and McCartney was met by a group of reporters at I believe his house asking him questions and he actually took the time to sit there and answer them about exactly how he was feeling. The Beatles never learned to shut up.
Keith has now turned into that type of celeb sadly.
