Stop the press indeed! I had no idea about this fact!

The Rolling Stones released ‘It’s Only Rock and Roll’ in 1973.

Really excellent drumming by KJ on that track. I've always thought the drums on that song are perfect. I have known it was KJ for a long time, but it is always nice to reflect on this great recording.

Ronnie is on the track as well, despite Keith thinking he retracted all the guitars.

I always wondered how it would have sounded if Charlie had played it in the studio. That push and pull and coming together of everyone in the last half of this repetitive song is something to behold.

Interesting interview.

So Willie Weeks' bass was also an overdub.

And no mention of Bowie doing backing vocals, handclaps or whatever.

He kept Ronnie's acoustic bit. It was Ronnie that didn't know about it for some time, actually.

it's a shitty song anyway. what a relief that Charlie hasn't been involved!

It is pretty bland. It's just... wet flower. No substance to it. Yeah yeah yeah, it's only rock'n'roll. But it's cheap.

I always wondered that too. I think the song would be better with Watts on drums. It sounds like a Faces song -- kinda lazy. Which is probably why they called it "It's ONLY Rock and Roll." With Watts on drums (and Taylor playing too) it might have been a real rock and roll song.
