This is a great example. I took a look into this post. I did actually spend time on reading several posts in thta thread, but I did not find anything offending.
...
Finally, I do ignore a lit of reports, because it is for sure not offending, just harmless contents. So it is hard work and a fine line. The question is, should I moderate the Bono contents? Yes or no?

Fair enough, bv, thanks for the clarification. Of course there are tons of posts I don't like or find stupid (which doesn't necessarily mean they are :-) and I do the same - I ignore them. Just like in life. This is just the same - you (and obviously the majority) didn't find it offensive, while I did. Not so much because of the content itself, since as somebody already mentioned - it is the price for fame and I guess Bono himself would not be offended in the slightest way, it is more that it seems to me that Bono is very a popular subject for bashing here. But it is not an issue really, I should have just ignored it.

Happy, I went back and deleted the link to the article.

To the others who discussed this, I want to make it clear that those quoted sentences never appeared on IORR until this thread (ironically). They are quotes from an article linked to. I found the article because Google News linked to it.

Happy, if you had mentioned that you found the link to the article offensive, I probably would have deleted it in the first place, like I have now.

You can't decide whether to find something offensive or not - it happens, and some people are just naturally blessed with thicker skins or weirder senses of humour than others. What you can decide is what you are going to do about it: ignore it, talk directly to the offender or report it - and there, I guess, is where the "lightening the f up" comes into it. How important is this really, and is it important to anybody but me?

I didn't find the Bono article funny, but we got fair warning of what it was going to be like, so I'd have left it alone.

If a man looks at a girl some girls will take it as a compliment, and smile. Other girls might be offended. It is all in our minds. It is ok to look at a girl, but you don't have to undress her with your eyes. Same with posting on IORR.

I always say to the girls who get pissed when I look at them, if I'm not watching, no other will either, and then you will be pissed for that....spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Is posting on other Stones forums allowed, or will that jeopardize your iorr membership?

For the love of god why can't people just take off their shoes at the door...no amount of wiping is going to get rid of all the crap that's probably on there. And another thing, if everyone is wiping their feet on that same mat, you're getting everyone's dirt reapplied to your shoes.

try to scrape the shit right off my shoes and it just doesn't work

Because, as Updike said, 'going barefoot is mere populism.'

Mowed the grass this morning. Forgot to pick up dog poop first. Tried to wash the shoes off with the garden hose. The spray got on the wife. She hates when that happens.

Perhaps invest in some disposable shoe covers to wear upon your feet.

That last line sounds like a Stones lyric... Maybe you should suggest it to the band for their upcoming studio sessions winking smiley

You're right. it's the PERFECT Stones lyric! Maybe something like this...

Every time I'm walkin'
On down the avenue
Some pretty mama
Try to scrape the shit right off my shoes

Shit don't break down
Baby please, shit don't break down
For the love of god why can't people
Just take off their shoes at the door

You Saturday night women
now ya just wipe it on the same ol' mat
You don't do nothin' except
getting everyone's dirt reapplied to your shoes

Shit don't break down
Baby please, shit don't break down
For the love of god why can't people
Just take off their shoes at the door

comedy? that's a bit generous don't you think?
But certainly world-class ping pong.

I think the ping-pong deviation comes from the fact that no one dares to discuss the actual subject...

Well, I was invited to nanker phelge, joined and posted a bit and it rekindled my wanting to post about stones again... but, then I thought I'd rather re-connect with my many posts and people on here.

A short, friendly email to bv later and here I am. No drama, no being forced to choose, just a personal choice. thumbs up
