When I hear Sgt Peppers now it does seem dated to me. I would never call it rubbish. Beatles and Stones were mates not rivals!

These comments about Sgt Pepper are getting major media attention, does not make Keith look very good.

It'll be forgotten in 24-48 hours, like everything else.

he's great at PR. think about how many more people know that he has a new album coming out. plus, his reputation is all about making great music and saying controversial things, doesn't hurt him one bit.

Sgt. Pepper stands alone as a high artistic achievement. Satanic Majesties is the punch line to a bad joke. Having said that, I too listen to 60s Stones a hell of a lot more than I do the Beatles. That can be attributed to two things, changing taste, and the fact that I wore out those Beatles grooves as a kid.

Absolutely not. I've been in every position possible, and I've always gotten out of it.

Odd. I've been in every position possible and I've always gotten into it... grinning smiley

Great interview - thanks for posting. He sounds in good form, most amusing, but I completely disagree about Sgt Pepper.

Best interview from Keith for a long time.

He knows the ropes so well in getting his name on social media and all the other media around.

Saying the right things at the right time, just before the album comes out, and hopefully a few live dates to publicise it a bit more after the release.

Good on yer Keith. winking smiley

As one of my mates has said a few times Keith is all about the blues, so I can understand why he does not like Sgt Peppersmoking smiley

When did it become necessary to skewer someone for simply stating an opinion? What's rubbish is that most of the media outlets have covered that one comment about Sgt Pepper and ignored the rest of the interview. As for the Stones, TSMR was entering the period when Brian was going one way, and Mick and Keith went another. I think we are all happier with the direction the band took.

Sgt Pepper is a concept album but it is far from the Beatles best work. After TSMR, the Stones went on a sick run of amazing albums starting with Beggars.

Not to forget: Keith says in this interview, too: "I think it's (i.e. Sergeant Pepper) a mishmash of rubbish, kind of like Satanic Majesties—"Oh, if you can make a load of shit, so can we."

Eventually Keith confirms that TSMR is rubbish, too ...
