Produced Charlie Rich to aplomb. He also created a fine country rock album with Elvis Costello in Almost Blue.

While I think on, he was connected with Dan Penn and the Muscle Shoals sound, and also with Sam Phillips at both Sun and Phillips International.

There's a very weird (but good) documentary on the YouTube about Sherrill producing Elvis Costello's Almost Blue album in Nashville. Talk about a guy who just phoned it in...

"He Stopped Loving Her Today" is so awesome it won song of the year 2 years in a row at one of the country award shows. Song is so morbid its almost goth. Cool!smoking smiley

If you're gonna get into country music, yeah, you can't go wrong with George Jones, along with Hank the First and Merle Haggard. Re Mister Sherrill, beside George J's big come back hit, you can't forget this one. It put her on the map.
