If the song vote was up to me it should be album themed, just that, 3-4 songs to choose from. No stuff that has been released as singles. Different albums every gig, then start again when they were through the albums, but then with 3-4 other songs.

Alternatively, they could do a set where they started with a song from their 1st album and then chronically go forwards in time (skipping a few albums here and there).

1. Not Fade Away (great opening for a concert)
2. Down the Road Apiece
3. That's How Strong My Love Is
4. I Am Waiting
5. Citadel
6. No Expectations
7. Live With Me
8. Bitch
9. Ventilator Blues
10. Winter (not sure Ronnie could pull that off)
11. Hand Of Fate
12. Beast Of Burden
13. Down In The Hole
14. Slave
15. Tie You Up (The Pain Of Love)

Encore
16. Thief In The Night
17. Jumping Jack Flash (unavoidable, if they want to finish with a bang)

2027 Stones tour opening song

Should there be a 2027 Stones tour, what should the show opening song be? Personally, I have grown tired of SMU, JJF as opening songs, as I have for HTW and BS. I would like to see a fresh opening song. I am thinking perhaps "Angry" or "Too Tight". Both would be unique show opening tunes. Both are fast. Opinions?

Street Fighting Man (with Keith turned up loud) any day of the week.

It would be a miracle if they'd be playing shows in 2027 at all. Being tired of opening songs in 2027? No, thank you!

The Gomper.

Another wishful thinking thread

Why would you think that? All signs look positive for a tour, especially in US. Stones have a new product and it appears to be a good one. Mick and Ronnie are all good to go. I think the Keith issues will be over by then. I hope I am right and you are wrong on this one.

Everything Keith has said has been 'on the fence'. On purpose? Probably. It's apparent he doesn't want to tour anymore.

Mick? He's only got "hope" on his side that anything happens.

So... people have a good reason to think no tour or live shows in 2027 especially with Mick and Keith talking about recording another album.

You state that as if it was a fact. But it’s just your own pessimistic opinion.

As much as I’d like them to try something new, my feeling is that the opener should be something they can play in their sleep.

So Smart Me Up or Street Fighting Man

Jumpin would be cool to hear too but since Brown Sugar is out, there isn’t any comparable song for the spot before the encore.

SMU would be to risky. Take SFM instead...

I believe there's some type of concerts ahead. If not a residence maybe something filmed in a studio. I think they will try to satisfy us in the best possible way, as well as themselves. Mick must be feeling anxious to get out there. We want him too.

A hologram show in London including Charlie, Bill, Brian, Mick T, Ian and Bobby Keys all together in one show.

Unrealistic, but I think would be really cool:

-Rough and Twisted with everyone joining in one by one would be really cool
-Hit Me In The Head or Bite Your Head off would be an awesome starts IMO
-Let's Spend The Night Together
-The Last Time
-19th Nervous Breakdown (not the slow version)
-From A Bigger Bang: I think She Saw Me Coming and Oh No Not You Again would work great
-She Said Yeah
-Have You Seen Your Mother Baby, Standing In The Shadows
-Not Fade Away would be great to return
-Rocks Off
-If You Can't Rock Me

Realistic: tired as they may be I couldn't see it being anything other than Start Me Up or Jumpin Jack Flash. Maybe Street Fighting Man, though I do always love that one so its less tired. Personally I'd love to see them open with Brown Sugar after neglecting it for several years.

It shouldn't surprise anyone if they play in 2027 and Brown Sugar is performed. As an opener would be of fantastic surprise. Yet... done so many times in the past. It's lack of absence would be "the news", nothing else really, except 'they're playing 2 songs from' blah blah blah.

That said, I wish they would be daring and pull a 1991-1993 U2 and open with the FORGEIGN TONGUES opening track.

1969-71: Jumpin' Jack Flash, a 1968 single also only found on BIG HITS 2, genius - and never played as good since.

1972-73: Brown Sugar - their first record label single and its debut album opening track it's no wonder they stuck with it as a show opener.

1975-76: 1969 single also found on BIG HITS 2 Honky Tonk Women. Arguably the best live version/performance of this song.

1978: Let It Rock. Fantastic choice considering their position at the time with SOME GIRLS having a disco-esque single/song Miss You, the punk-esque Lies, Respectable and Shattered and just to make sure they covered one more genre that's not rock, the tongue-in-cheek country of Far Away Eyes by starting off with a boogie rock'n'roll Chuck Berry song.

1981-82: Under My Thumb. What the hell???? Makes no sense. Yet it's awesome as heard on STILL LIFE, the Wembley live album and in the movie: they transformed the song into a rock'n'roll anthem. At least they played 6 new songs.

1989-90: Start Me Up. Well it made sense then and they've never played it as good since.

1994-95: Not Fade Away. Instead of doing something obvious as opening with a new or recent song they opted for a slowed down version of an somewhat obscure single from 1964.

1997-98: Satisfaction. Excellent choice, really: a short version unlike past performances and out of the way. Possibly a middle finger to critics. A great opener would've/could've been the album opener. However it's the beginning of opening shows with some 1968-1981 song and never changing.

1999: Jumpin' Jack Flash for both tours. Why this instead of, again, possibly Flip The Switch, well, like 1997 they get a single that is usually played for far too long in the recent past out of the way.

2002-2003: Brown Sugar, Street Fighting Man, Start Me Up, Jumpin' Jack Flash and for some shows in 2003 You Got Me Rocking.

2005-07: Start Me Up mostly, Jumpin' Jack Flash. Opportunity ignored to open with a new album opening track because it's obvious they were set in nostalgia instead of new - as the tour lagged on less and less new material was played, with show the newest song being from 1981 but otherwise only one new song and most shows including You Got Me Rocking as the other newest song post-1981.

2012-13: Get Off My Cloud. First show was I Wanna Be Your Man.

2014-16: Jumpin' Jack Flash

2017: Sympathy For The Devil

After that, just the same as far back as 1997, it doesn't matter, it's JJF, SFM, SMU, maybe something else but none of it means anything except it's out of the way, just a HOT ROCKS/REWIND set list with the occasional post-1983 songs.

What would make sense if they do anything live in 2027? Rough And Twisted, In The Stars and Angry come to mind. If there's rotation then the other two put in the set at the end as a reminder of new. Highly unlikely they would think that way since they ignored 1983-2005 for the 2024 tour except one show with YGMR.

Dandelion…they should do a residency & tour some cities . If Keith still won’t do it get coz he’s not interested then get Andrew Watt to fill in for Keith. I’m sure he will..why have Mick, Ronnie, & the drummer suffer coz Keith won’t do it.

keith said in a recent interview (the same where he said he loves performing live and he's confident of what they'll do next year) that he'll raise the idea of adding brown sugar back to the set but as an instrumental

that i think would be a good opener

or a shortened satisfaction (4 mins max)
