I remember people on here wanting The Stones to pay tribute to Micks girlfriend after she passed. really? come on......

They never mention Bobby keys passing live why should they with Bowie?

The Stones doing a Bowie song would require The Stones to actually learn and rehearse and perform a NEW song and they don't do that anymore. They're phoning it in these days, they're in autopilot mode. Sorry but that's the truth.

That's why they played She's A Rainbow..

Leave that to Lady Gaga - who did a silly enough job at it - Mick already addressed his death in the press - why would anyone think that the Rolling Stones would even entertain a stupid idea like this??

Cause they just have too many songs to play all of them live. I can understand Dandelion, cause it really is of that time in the 60s. Then again, that doesn't stop them from playing She's A Rainbow, but I guess that was also a bigger hit?

Jigsaw Puzzle? I get why its not played even though I think its dumb. Seems a little too long, wasn't a hit, kind of seems like something that worked best in the studio and would maybe meander live. I don't know the actual reasoning, but it just seems like a song that wouldn't get played live, even though both of these songs are favorites of mine.

Never did and never will, as the crowd said to Tommy.
Jigzaw puzzle is a classic stones' song: "the singer not the song". It works amazing on when you're in Olympic Studio, with Nicky Hopkins on piano, and Mick singing that way. So, never will be properly done live. Also, a little too long, so many stanzas.
And Dandelion... one of the songs I love. I think the issue lies and when it was written (1967, "Butterfly on a wheel"), and also Richards' first daughter. Keith was on the low side when she was born, and in Life he says "Anita named her Dandelion" and "whe she grow, she tell me "Never call me Dandy again!". Maybe a personal issue. And... not a great hit. Probably will work well live, but...

This one could be played in an arena setting without protests from concert goers I think grinning smiley
Songs like Flip The Switch, Heartbreaker and Undercover bring some great move'n'groove into the show while the real rarities (Fool To Cry, Hound Dog, Wanna Be Your Man, Salt Of The Earth, Goin Down, Hand Of Fate) will satisfy the hardcore fans. And then of course there are all great hits so this show will be unforgettable for the rest of the fans too.

1. Brown Sugar

3. Flip The Switch
4. Undercover Of The Night

Cut The Warhorses In Half
Posted by: Pecman ()
Date: April 15, 2016 06:33

The Stones need to cut the Warhorses in Half.

Open the show with one warhorse...and play 3 before the encore
and 2 for the encore.

That would add 6 more choices to the show besides the usual 2 or 3.

No Stones fan needs to hear 12 Warhorses at this point.

Call the tour "DEEP CUTS 2016/2017".

Please...I love every song but it would be so much more interesting for the band and the fans to do this.

I really think the best set lists this band ever did was on the small shows on the Licks Tour...they really took some chances...It was great.

They tried that, with Anybody Seen My Baby?, and the results were so-so. I would have loved to have heard it live. It's a great song. And I don't necessarily mind the way they played it. Did they play that one once or twice? It was either once or twice... it wasn't totally great, but it wasn't bad. Though I can't imagine half the show being scatter-shot like that, just for the sake of mixing things up.

Socrates1

I was at Giants Stadium Oct 16 & 17th 1997 on the BB2.
When they played that...the energy got sucked out of the stadium.

They played it on the VH1 Fashion Awards or something like that in 1998 from
the Felt Forum which is under MSG and it was terrible...I was embarrassed watching it on TV...

The song should never be played live.

YOUTUBE it every time they played it...I think they just played it on the South American Tour and it was terrible.

I'm talking more album cuts that you're wife or girlfriend or date wouldn't know...

Don't want to turn the Stones show into a RUSH concert but
there are more than plenty of great Stones songs that aren't Warhorses that would strike a chord and excite the casual fan.

I wasn't aware that they never really played that one right live. I can take your word for it. It would be cool if they kept one wild card slot open. Then every night they could play one different song, and it wouldn't matter if it fell apart or not. Just watching the the last two tours on periscope, sure the second half isn't as exciting for me. But if I were actually there and it was the one show I was seeing, I bet I would love the second half.

I disagree. However as a compromise I propose they play the warhorses twice as fast to allow for the inclusion of 'deeper cuts.' The final five songs of the concert could be a medley.

Take them out altogether. No need for them to prove they can do the ultimate show anymore, it's been done to death. They obviously don't need the money, how about at least throw in a show in each city at a small venue and just the 5 Stones, 1 keyboardist and 1 sax player, and play oddities! If they did that I would probably travel city to city and see every show.
