With all these points said, they could for sure pull of a 22-song-set like this for example:

Start Me Up
Shattered - Great idea
Paint It Black
Heartbreaker - Mick would stuggle with the vocals and Charlie wouldn't find the right groove
Slave - It would just sound nervous with Mick trying to keep the trainwreck together
Just Your Fool
Memory Motel
Little Queenie
Can't Always Get
Miss You
Tumbling Dice
The Worst (Keith)
Little T&A (Keith) - Keith would once again have problems remembering the riff
Out Of Control - Already tired of this one
Midnight Rambler
Gimme Shelter
Honky Tonk Woman
Sympathy For The Devil
Jumping Jack Flash
It's Only Rock'n'Roll - Yes it would probably have more energy this late into the set
Brown Sugar
Satisfaction (Encore)

That's not very far from the real setlists.

Sorry I dont have a complaint, but this looks like the best place to post this.

Was talking to a buddy about Chicago 78 and Boulder 81 and how many songs they played from the new albums...

and wow 81 Boulder was a pretty cool setlist...
I was there and I dont remember Tops being played...
or that they played a whopping 27 songs... WOW!!

I do remember becoming severely infected with Stonesillitis over those 2 days.
I thought something was up based on how overly ecstatic I felt after the shows.
The symptoms grew after each show and I still have not been cured. I still got it bad good

Day 1
1981 Boulder setlist...
Under My Thumb
When the Whip Comes Down
Let's Spend the Night Together
Shattered
Neighbors
Black Limousine
Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)
Twenty Flight Rock
Let Me Go
Time Is on My Side
Beast of Burden
Waiting on a Friend
Let It Bleed
Tops
You Can't Always Get What You Want
Tumbling Dice
Little T&A
(Keith Richards on lead vocals)
She's So Cold
All Down the Line
Hang Fire
Star Star
Miss You
Start Me Up
Honky Tonk Women
Brown Sugar
Jumpin' Jack Flash
Encore:
(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction

Oh and... Looking at Chicago 78, they played 17 songs, seven off of the new album

I bet the Stones don´t even remember that tune.

They would never do it, they want the audience to cheer not to yawn.

It´s a cool track but not suited for arenas/stadiums.

Wasn't this tune forbidden in the US? What did they do with the single I wanna be your man
at that side of the Ocean, I wonder.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

It would be a good prerecorded opening, though, to be honest, it's doubtful that most, the casual fans, would know the tune, as they likely have Hot Rocks but not the London Years singles collection.

Not as an actual opener, but I always thought playing recording of "Just Wanna See His Face" just before taking the stage would be great "lead-in" music.

Stoned is proof of their amazing blues prowess in the beginning - absolute killer tune.

While they wouldn't play it live as an opener, it would be great as the intro music right before they hit the stage with a montage of old band photos.

One other thought -- I doubt that the "Stoned" instrumental is something that has traveled through the years with the band itself.

As recounted in Phelge's Stones by James Phelge who was at the flat in Edith Grove the day they returned from the studio session, "Stoned" was just something they knocked off in the studio, just an improvisation, because they needed a B-side for the single. In that regard, it's their first original "composition".

Is there any recorded of the band having attempted this track live?

when they might be doing a spripped-down theater's tour, playing just the first three records and blues-covers .... almost imposible????

Stoned...would help plough some coffers back into Nanker Phelge publishing royalties.

Booker T and the MG's Green Onions

Stoned is effectively a cover with a few improvised lyrics by MJ

Not sure if you mean Stoned = Green Onions with MJ lyrics, but if so--no. It's not a particularly original melody (as usual, it's what they do with it that makes the difference), but it's not the same melody as Green Onions, except to the extent that they both, like dozens/hundreds of other songs, ultimately derive from the same root.

With Jagger's minimal lyric the band captured something of their couldn't-give-a-f... nature.

"Stoned was nothing more than just a nick-off Booker T's Green Onions"

quote from Keith Richards 1972.

They should open with a 20-minute synth-driven & jam-based version of "Back To Zero".
And end the show with an emotional, acoustic "Winning Ugly"

The Rolling Stones - Stoned lyrics
(nanker phelge)

Stoned
Out of my mind
Here i go

Ah, yeah
Where am i at?
Yeah, yeah

Now that would be something!

Add to that a sitar-driven version of "Let's Work" on the b-stage mid-set! But I'm dreaming, as solo material is out of reach unfortunately.

This thread is still alive? Stones set list discussions are kinda pointless at this stage...unless they really decide to shock us in the future. Alas, I predict carbon copies of Hyde Park Live / Havana Moon roster. Maybe a couple floating different tunes but mostly the same warhorses in the same order.

"Gonna find my way to heaven ..."
