Am I the only one who wishes they WON'T play Ghost Town? I've listened to it once when it came out, then never after. Easily forgettable song.

Re: 2000 Light Years...it apparently was an instrumental played over the PA before the actual show on the 1972 tour. (Correct me if I'm wrong).

Yes - that's right. You can hear it in Ladies And Gentlemen.

Yeah, SMU or JJF..

I don't think the setlist will be very different from the 2019 leg of the tour. It's a shame when you recorded like 450 songs and you only get to play 18 or 19 a night, that 80% of those songs are 'fixed'. I get it that the majority of the attendees are 'casuals' who would be disappointed when they didn't get to hear Satisfaction or Brown Sugar, but I think it's perfectly possible to create a setlist with approx 50% warhorses and 50% great album tracks. I don't think a lot of people will be frustrated if they'd skip IORR, Miss You or YCAGWYW this time..

Topi, thanks for trying to show me the video but when I clicked on the link it said " Video unavailable".. I replied to you in a post that said I was wrong, it was never an opening tune. As I said, it must have been a dream....but I did see it performed during the Steel Wheels Tour in 1989. A bit of a risky number for the Stones but I'd love to see more risk-taking on their part!

OK, Topi, I do recall hearing that as intro music..1972 was my very FIRST Stones concert. So it was their 1975 tour that had Copeland's " Fanfare For The Common Man" playing before they took the stage...ah, yes, the good ole days..
And Topi, you DID send me a link to a video..www.timeisonourside.com which I couldn't open. Go back & check your previous post.

and a metronomelike robot without soul and swing on drums.
And that mway way too loud!

Rock'n'Roll died finally 24th of August 2021, with Charlie Watts - and woke.
That's so embarrassing. HATE IT. And it's so deeply sad sad sad.

But enjoy - on the level of mediocre TV shows at max - and much lower.
And please don't stop to give all your money to them - they really seem to need it!

Human rights and freedom of arts are forgettable - concerning yours. Have a nice rightless future.

Our fathers fought for ages for our rights and freedom! People like you throw that away like empty milk bottles. Embarrassing and sad.

It’ll probably get played by the end of the tour.
People need to calm down.

I believe Steve Jordan is playing with the Rolling Stones because he is very close to Keith. Steve had Charlie's approval too. I don't think it was a "political" decision that motivated Mick and Keith. The fact that Steve is afroamerican is just anecdotal. Steve is a great drummer who connect at all levels with Keith: and that matters. I hope Howard Stern asks Mick Wednesday if Brown Sugar is of limit.
Rockandroll,
Mops

Steve is not Charlie of course but the tour just began so everybody should take it easy now. Let's be grateful that Mick is in so great shape. The glass is half full, not half empty!

Yes, Brown Sugar has been there far too long and it's just something they churn out for the fans.

Good to ring some changes.

( Personally I haven't heard a good version live since '73 - which really had attack and pace. Maybe they need to start shows with it again to reinvigorate it)

Woke stuff - no idea - but glad they resting it.

If they don't play Brown Sugar it is Mick Jagger's decision. He is the singer and nobody forces him to sing anything unless Mick wants it. Maybe Mick doesn't want to sing that song anymore. It is his choice.
I wish they will play it at some point during the tour. Great mythical guitar riffs on that one.
Rockandroll,
Mops

Sign of the times. Can't really fight it.
The song isn't racist, any more than Midnight Rambler advocates being a serial killer, but woke is an attitude, not rational.
Eventually a punk band will come along to challenge this nonsense, but the Stones are conventional now.

Brown Sugar opens with THE signature Open G signature riff by Keith Richards. It may be the "perfect" rock song. It is not a celebration of slavery - but it certainly depicts some of the horrors of that unfortunate institution. The Yeah, Yeah, Yeah - Wooh ending is custom made for stadium shows.I would hate if they drop one of rock's most famous songs.
