Don't forget that recent (ridiculous) article from Chicago's own Tribune:

oh! Which I can no longer send a link to cause now I am in England I can't access the page...

(Summary - BS is racist and sexist and should be banned)

(google 'Chicago Tribune Brown Sugar Racist' and you'll find it)

That article is the reason they SHOULD play it.

Twice.

how bout Sympathy for the Bankers whooo whooo
the crowds mostly watching the big screens thru their phones anyway, then turning around for selfies...
...hey, if any of the PS (Periscope Squad) tries that kinda unprofessional field behavior there's going to be a long post about just you]

yeh let's "spend some 'time' together" @#$%&, wink wink, we're with you Sir, all the way; these heathen yanks can't read anyway if it's not a post on a cellular tracking device, Sir.
(which does not have a close up lens hidden in your bra girls)
security...if it was my job, i'd check the boobs out closely.
yeh staring at their phones in the stands...even on the merch lines!!
which i dig mind you; you can check 'em out realll good, and then when they turn around to see if you're starin', whichi of course you weren't; it was a foucs field work thing chuck berry would understand....
well, they turn around and you go for YOUR phone. excellent. i'm a social cultural anthropologist experienced with a range of human crowd responses, virtually, or the rapidly diminishing 'actual' reality.
So let's get back to work here, people.

STFB
what else, bitch is totally out. no birch! that's it. Chuck's into trees, it's a tie in, i say go for it. Birth, ok Rainbow Sugar, Sympathy for the Banker and Birch....
i got more, it's not that i'm running out of ideas.
i'm an idea man.
it's just a time management thing, brb....

Good observation. Funny though, I believe most of us wouldn't of thought this would ever be an issue. Sign of the times. Thanks Prince.

Agreed.
PC nonsense and virtue signalling is the secular religion right now. Even the Stones will avoid challenging it.

I have slightly revised Stoneage’s setlist prediction based on my thoughts/comments on this thread ...

1. Street Fighting Man
2. Let's Spend The Night Together (IORR - alternative)
3. Tumbling Dice
4. Sad Sad Sad (Harlem Shuffle - alternative)
5. Ride Em' Down
6. Out of Control (song vote) (You Got Me Rocking - Alternative)
7. You Can't Always Get...

8. Play With Fire (b-stage)(Angie - Alternative)
9. Sweet Virginia (b-stage)(Dead Flowers - Alternative)

10. Sympathy For The Devil
11. Honky Tonk Women

12. You Got The Silver (Slipping Away - alternative)
13. Before They Make me Run (Happy - alternative)

14. Miss You
15. Paint It Black
16. Midnight Rambler
17. Start me Up
18. JJ Flash
19. Brown Sugar(???)

20. Gimme Shelter
21. Satisfaction

*IORR could be placed inbetween songs 4-6 if they are pushing the setlist length for opening night
** Brown Sugar may not be performed?
*** Alternatives could be used for Chicago 2

I think this is spot on, in terms of songs that will be played, maybe even the Night 2 part.

I think you got it right, GJB. I wonder about Brown Sugar though and Rambler though. Will they play them? In less than ten hours we'll have the answer...

I bet they will play both Midnight Rambler and Brown Sugar.
No way they gonna drop Brown Sugar. It´s too big. Re Midnight Rambler - like Miss You this is the spot for Ron & Keith to relax, so they will keep both.

Please DO NOT play Sad Sad Sad. Not even close to being a classic RS song.
I can think of 100 songs to replace that one with.

Anything that breaks the monotony is good. And I don't understand how fans here who aren't able to pick out one bad Stones album still don't want them to play any song past 1981.
As if albums like Undercover, Steel Wheels, Voodoo Lounge, BtB and A Bigger Bang never existed...

Nothing can be cheesier than the 1091:th version of Honky Tonk Women or the 924:th version of Satisfaction. Why this love for monotony?

OK,we’re gonna have what I call one of Lem’s teachable moments.

Today We’re gonna learn about “The Formula”.

Our subjects will be The Kardashian’s and News Media and we’re gonna apply the formula to each of them.
The first ingredient in the formula is conflict so for the Kardashian’s we have two of the girls fighting with each other, one of the girls fighting with someone else,a business crisis or some other problem to draw your interest.
And then (and this is where you come in) we go to a commercial break)and dollars are made.

For our next test group we have the news media, they are the Kardashian’s x 1000.
Remember our first ingredient, conflict.they ramp it up to the extreme.oh my god the future of the planet is at stake, war is gonna break out, race problems are at a hair trigger, plague and pestilence waiting to be unleashed...and we break for a commercial.and dollars are made.

It’s all bullshit and theater,The Rolling Stones have been in the game for half a century and they know this,if someone uses their name the formula applies, conflict, interest = dollars.

This is a very complicated way of telling you there is No Mthrfckng way they drop Brown Sugar from the set.it will never happen,I am 1000% sure ,I promise you.if they don’t play Brown Sugar tomorrow night everything I say is crap and I will never post on this sight again.

don't quit if they don't play it. i agree with you though. we live in very strange times. pt barnum would've done well nowadays.

They didn't play anything from "Blue and Lonesome" which, considering they were in Chicago, is almost unbelievable.

For the record, I think the biggest crowd reaction was...HTW. I felt like the last show I went to thr biggest crowd reaction was Satisfaction so perhaps there is a reason they play what the play.

If they play Sad Sad Sad it will be a sad day IMHO. A cheeesy 80’s song.

there´s absolutely nothing cheesy about Sad Sad Sad. A great song, as good as any rocker from, say, Exile. The only 80s thing about Sad Sad Sad is the fact that it was recorded in the 80s. But it doesn´t sound like 80s at all, not at all. I am delighted that they played it yesterday and I hope it remains in the setlist (btw I didn´t found any of the "surprise songs" Keith promised, they continued where the stopped last year... although not really surprising).

It's a fine song, but not worthy of inclusion in the setlists at this point.

Given the finite amount of shows they have left in them, they should be playing rarities from the '60s and '70s.

You got pretty close with your setlist prediction, GJB. Well done. The list is pretty much "set" from song 9 and on. A warhorse bonanza. Some love it, I don't. The interesting part will be song 2-8.
Where they will chose 2 out of 4 b-stage songs from gig to gig. Periscoped the gig, and judging from crowd reaction the crowd responded positively to Angie, less so on Dead Flowers.

Sad Sad Sad was really tight with a good backup from Sasha et all. It's really necessary to throw in some "new" songs in the setlist. To break up the predictability.
Preferably songs from post 1981, like Sad Sad Sad. Now we are only waiting for Harlem Shuffle and Mercy, Mercy to turn up in the list...

How could you know they would not play IORR?

Re: The Rolling Stones set list discussions

Sad Sad Sad, Harlem Shuffle & Mercy should be played every night instead of only throwing only one of them in here and there. And they should forget about Angie & Dead Flowers (big yawn). Throw in latter day´s best - Love Is Strong, Flip The Switch, One Hit To The Body, YGMR, Had It With You, Rough Justice, Rain Fall Down, Doom & Gloom.

Re: The Rolling Stones set list discussions

McLaurens: They played LSTNT on IORR:s spot. That was reported in the rehearsals thread. Maybe they will throw in IORR before the tour is over though. Most probably.

HMS: I'm somewhat with you there. An acoustic (semi-) set in a stadium doesn't really work. Dead Flowers was lame. The crowd seemed to like Angie though (it's a favorite for many, a big hit back then).
Keep Angie in the ordinary set and scrap the b-stage I would say...
