YGMR was the opener a few times in 1998..

A few times in 2003 and 2006. Plus the Echoplex gig in 2013.
But don’t know of any shows in 1998 that they opened with YGMR.

I think there will be no new openers.

I think the following songs could work very well

She's so Cold (maybe)
Under My Thumb
You Got Me Rocking
Satisfaction

And Gomper ofcourse.

On with the Show!!

Gimme Shelter

Yep how about kicking off with a 90s/21st century classic

Doom and Gloom
Anybody Seen My Baby
Love is Strong
Out of Control
Saint of Me

Or even just including one or two in the setlist somewhere!

Though actually I think they might just be shuffling main warhorse tracks from the main set. Are there 14 possible openers, one for each date? Maybe they'll do 7 and then repeat back for the second half of shows

Start with Decca/London stuff:

Paint It Black, then
Mother's Little Helper followed by
Ruby Tuesday

the only realistic options – beside the songs they used as openers so far – are:
- Satisfation
- Brown Suger

(an opener for a Stones show has to be a well known song etc)

I think UMT would work well giving the playing is good enough, otherwise it should be called "Ladies and Gentlemen - Chuck Leavell!".

Don't you think 19th NB would work? It's got a good hook to get the audience involved straight away. Is there a reason they don't play it much now?

LOVING the change-up in openers. Long overdue and long may it comtinue. I Wanna Be Your Man was a very memorable opener at the O2 so wouldn’t mind a repeat of that.

+1

Yes, please! thumbs up

Honky tonk Women for Coventry (last time it was in Brixton 95)

UMT like they played it in 81/82. Now is just a bad joke
UMT and LSTNT were absolute winners in those tours, they changed completely the arrangement s and transform them into guitar driven hymns
The new approach is absolutely lifeless

Always thought that Don't Stop is a good song to open the concert with. They are in their seventies, they don't stop since they were 20 years old, so why do not open with this song ??

Other Choice Route 66.

Hold On To Your Hat - Must be the most underrated song opener and would be a Classic to open Edinburgh - Guys put this one in the repertoire. I hear this could be a possibility. Give it a whirl

Get Off My Cloud was an awful, stiff opener.

Under My Thumb 81 was a great opener. The current soft rock version, not so much.

Paint It Black seemed alright the few times they did it in 2006 and opening with it would make the show overall seem far less predictable.

Anything where they all come in together.
I don't see the point of piling the pressure on Keith by making him start every gig with a scarf infested signature riff

When The Whip Comes Down
All Down The Line
You Got Me Rocking

Going To A Go-Go - Would love this with an extended drum intro from Charlie. The downside is it would mean introducing the sax straight off which probably wouldn't be a good idea and it's a cover.

2000 Light Years from Home: herald the Stones' arrival with that Matt Clifford synth intro. Would really modernize their approach, bring them into the 21st century. Takes pressure off of Keith.
